where did you get the oil and water feed from? can I have a link.
Also have a look at filterdot.co.uk if youve a magnetic sump plug this will be a great addition.

it has no water lines because the turbo is only oil cooled/lubricated

And again....
No diagnose yet, but seems no sparking or no compression

Have you not got another engine you can swap in?

I don't need to list these for you guys, as you've probably checked already but just incase:

Ignition coil/distributor working? If it is working, is it strong enough? Check with a multimeter to be doubly sure
Bad earth from engine to chassis?
Not enough battery power to produce big enough spark? Jump from a running car, see if that helps (~14v would produce larger spark than ~12v)
Timing belt ok? Not slipped any teeth?
Valve clearances?
Camshaft snapped again?
Total headgasket failure?

It happend on the road while cruising.

yesterday we checked a few things;
compression on all 4 cilinders
all 4 leads and sparkplugs work, all 4 spark
fuel is no problem
timing is still correct, belt is fine
camshafts in 1 piece
valvesprings intact
ECU shows all the correct settings

Only the middle 2 cilinders are firing... Maybe the spark is to weak, but why did that happen on the middle of the road during cruising?

Hmm i would guess that maybe sparks 1 and 4 are too weak this was why my skoda didn't start, all 4 were sparking outside the cylinder, but not firing inside it. New ignition coil fixed that.

I'd try a new distributor (or at least a new cap).

'New' second hand unit will be around 40-50 pounds, but the motivation of spending more money is gone. It keeps breaking down and why shouldn't I get back to N/A ?

little update :

The story continues, i removed the GTXR engine from the BG, and i'm now rebuilding a N/A GT engine. It will have some of the GTXR engine like the megasquirt systeem, Edis ignition, injectors,fuelrail, turbo intake manifold, fidanza flywheel, stage 3 cintherbronze clutch, gearbox (willbe fitted with a phantomgrip diff)

and i will add a 4-2-1 Ford RS2000 header and make the exhaust a bit shorter to make a diffusor

pictures will follow, my goal is japfest second try :P

Nothing wrong with N/A chap, wish I could afford to fit my BG GT engine

Do you want to fit a turbo on the GT when it runs smooth? I know..you've tried before..but a normal GT hasn't got that much power for the circuit

it won't be a normal gt engine, its just now for the time beeing, the GTXR engine will be rebuild later on. but i need to drive my bg as it is now... i think it will have 160 mayby 170bhp and that on 900kg... better to handle than 320bhp :P

Update :

'new' GT in on the engine stand, (is it called this way?) ready to get some new gaskets, seals and new parts still dont have any photos (BARRELJAN had made some)

Not yet, probably the head itself or the gasket of maybe some internal problem we guess

When the car is running again the GTX engine wil be taken a part to check all the internal components and rebuild.

We have plenty of engines standing in the workshop, so no we are not giving up this car The only thing for now we give up is turbo'ing.

Quick list: 1 gt (as seen above), 1 gtx dead (as mentioned earlier), 1 gtx spare, 1 2.0 kf, 1 gt (headgasket failure), 2 gt's in parts, 1 2.5 kldze

A total rebuild will be expensive! But I hope that you'll get the GTR in de F, running without problems

What have you done with this GT to get the 160 - 170 BHP?

The outside of the engine is completely degreased





And later on, several old gaskets removed and some oilseals around the crankshaft and camshafts. Waterpump is removed and so on..

Sorry to hear about you guys giving up on the forced induction...

But still, awesome NA engine there!

Nope, no ITB's. Keeping it simple is the magic word. Not trying to mess around too much and ending up with a similar problem which is a dead engine. Most interesting part of this will be the stand-alone ECU (megasquirt) and see how far we come without any internal mods or for example regrinds of cams.

isnt edis wasted spark? implying that 2 cylinders will always fire at the same time (the ford firing order)??
arnt 1 and 4, and 2 and 3 paired? just a thought..?

@lewp91; you are correct, it is a wasted spark system. We do keep in mind that the ignition or coilpack is damaged some how. We'll see.


Updates for now:

Arrived friday's, the new Mazda OEM rockercover gasket




'New' oil pan since the old one was busted (see here)




And degreased it




Inside all spankin' fresh




New oil sump including a fresh new gasket. The one on the right is the old one including a piece of the old oilpan




Next, sanded down the block , cleaned it and put on the heat-resistant paint to tidy it up. The oilpan is already in place and do not mind the ugly rockercover There will be an original black one on it tomorrow.




The dizzy plug. Perfect machined stop to block of the original hole for the distributor
