Fitting variable speed intermittent wiper stork -Pre & F

Tools needed:-

Philips screw driver
Torch
Wiper stork from a 2001 up Mazda Tribute, MPV, Mazda6 or 626 Euro model NOT U.S

Estimated time to fit is 5 - 10 mins.

Remove the 3 philips screws from under the steering wheel cowling,
you might find it easyer to find the screws with the torch.

Put the screws in a safe place....

Seperate the cowling. This is alittle hard, I used the screwdriver for this, by placing it just above the wiper stork and hitting the handle with my palm....

Remove the two plastic covers to reveal the switch...

Under the wiper switch there is a white connecting plug, Unplug it

Remove two small gold coloured screws on the wiper switch... put them somewhere safe.

Slide the stork out of the cowling..

Slide the New veri-speed stork in its place into the cowling..

Plug in the white plug and test the new stork..... Does it work?? Yes Great!!
Screw back the two small gold screws.

Put the two plastic covers back and screw back the three screws from underneth the cowling..

You have just fitted youself a great little Mod :thumbright:

No, I found it on ebay.U.s It was £34ish derlivered. But knowing what fits I imagine there more chance of finding on at the scrappys. I just don't have the time to search them.
I have also noticed that corksport sells them BUT they are listed as sedan only, I'm sure the sedan and wagon have the same switches :scratch:

I would never have thought it would be simply "plug 'n' play"

It's something that bugs me, I mean, come on Mazda, I had vari speed wipers on my K plate BG for f&*%s sake!!!

I guess the sedan one won't work then, looks like I need a 6 wiper control [i]and[/i] wagon rear wiper... :wink:

Unbelieveable... so I can get a variable speed switch from a Mazda 6 hatchback and just plug and play?
Why didn't they just fit them in the first place? Silly Billys!

Just fitted one as bought off errnee. Easy peesey to fit. Just one thing the top steering cover is a push on fit while the lower one is held on by the 3 screws. Apart from that plug 'n' play.

got one from a 2007 mazda 6 today fit it but it don seem to change the speed of the wipe. everything else work except that. is the something else i needed to do?

Dunno if you've misunderstood Terro, ( or maybe I've misunderstood what your saying...) but it only changes the intermittent-ness of the intermittent wiper. I think it adjusts in 2 second increments.
It doesn't actually change the speed of the wipe. :wink:
