No worries, my bad for it being mounted wrongly in one of the photos. In the photo where it's in a garage with tools scattered around the engine bay it's mounted properly there. Rest assured it's all alright. Also the filter is probably dry but flash will make it seem even worse. What oil exactly am I meant to put on an air filter? I've been lead to believe that oil coated filters can burn a MAF.

It could destroy the MAF if you put ALOT of the oil on the filter..
If you just coat it slight it will not do any damage to the MAF.
I'm running maybe 3+ years with this kind of filter and i have no worries what so ever.
Yes, cleaning the MAF once in a while is a good thing and should be done even with stock filters.
It could get "dirty" faster than with stock filter, but hey everything has it's price right?
In the performance shops you could find kits for cleaning and oiling "sports"/"pod"(cone) filters
Most common brands are K&N,Simota,Skunk..
I used Simota for those 3 years and had no trouble.I have a friend that uses this kind of filters for his bike more than 10 years i believe..
He stoped using kits and uses thin oil for sewing machines.. he researched alot that subject and states that the difference in the oils for filters and for sewing machines is only the additive that gives a colour.
I'm not risking for now, but more that i go into it, the more i belive him.
The kits are with oil wich is in a spray can and it's easy to apply, the one he uses is in bottle so it's a bit tricky..

Finally about to do something I've been wanting to do for a looong time.







Got these 40mm Direnza Lowering Springs for a bargain, about 60 and another 20 euro shipped off ebay as they were used as display stock. Originally they would be around 200 I think. Going in without compressors cause am bored in life so we'll see what happens.

Get atleast one buddy to help.
Rear ones are easy job when someone presses them with body weight.The nuts are easily removed that way.
For front ones you need compressors!
Or you can cheat a bit while they are still on the car and remove the nuts, but that's tricky when you undo it from the hubcarriers, and i personally don't recomend it!
Otherwise Verry Good price!

Yea I have a friend coming to help but I don't have spring compressors, my friend came up with the idea of doing what you're saying but I told him would be difficult to get off the shock.

After a very gruelling 3 day battle I have finally lowered it. Had to cut and grind off one droplink which I had to pay 30 euro for. Overcame a few other problems but now she is finally lowered and I love it.

by the way I borrowed spring compressors to do the job because luckily a friend of mine had them, the fronts would have been near impossible otherwise

I like the sound, a bit beefier than the stock sound but still retaining it's character. Slightly concerned about that puff of black smoke there. I did start it up and rev it but the engine wasn't cold.

That exhaust is so cool!!!!!

We have all found that the standard BA back box isn't too good, it always blows out on that bend in the pipe.

Haha thanks jinglebells. My backbox was fine but I just wanted something sportier, very happy with it. Just need to go back to the shop to beng one of the hangars as it fouls on the heatshield under the boot and makes a horrid clanging sound over bumps but overall it's great!

Been gathering parts for the brake upgrade and also got kyb shocks for the rear.



Also bought droplinks but was sent the wrong ones so as soon as I receive the correct ones I'll fit the new shocks.







The calipers that I bought



The solid piece all refurbed, only going to use those pieces from the calipers as it saves me removing the calipers and fitting on the entire 1.8 caliper which would need refurbing anyway.

Also have the knuckles tucked away in one of these boxes lol.
Bonus points for anyone who can guess what's in each box.



Still need to order bearings to replace the ones in the knuckles as one is shot and the other will probably crap itself as soon as I put it on the car so better to spend 60 odd euros and replace them before they go on.

Just replaced the rear shocks as they were blown. Put the KYBs in and the ride is much better, obviously would be since the old ones were worn to hell but still. Very happy with the result. Will definitely replace the fronts with KYB when they go or when I can afford to but honestly if there is nothing wrong with a Mazda part then leave it alone!

Managed to restore a set of 1.8 calipers for my brake upgrade before I started my Masters degree, won't have much time to do anything for a while now!

Rebuilt and painted them in brass with a custom made Lantis decal.

Here are the calipers when I got them




Took them apart and rebuilt them, everything except new slide pins!








Then a clean up with a wire brush on the drill and some sandpaper







Masked and primed ready for paint







Used my education and professional practice to create a quick Lantis decal in Illustrator, scaled and bent to fit onto the caliper, printed and cut it out ready to be stuck to the caliper before putting the brass paint on after some black paint was applied







And the final result

So finally installed the stainless sills I got. Big thanks to smurf for recommending the use of drywall plugs in place of the original clips, worked perfectly in conjunction with the screws I managed to find.
