So here goes the tread about the sister of Anti.
Realy had bought it for little less than 1200bgn and it had no majour issue.
Has some KM on the clock but still it pulls strong.Wich is the thing that make me buy it.
After searching amongst 20 cars the rust on it was the smallest amount from all, so it had to be her.
I bought it and the car stayed 2 days infront of our apartment building.I was playing dumb when she saw it, but as i didn't sign it right away on my name the car was with different city numbers and i told my wife that probably someone had come to visit someone.By that time the key was in my pocket :D
but i waited and we went to a walk with her. After a few hours we came back and i persuade her to look at the car as she is shy and little worried, we get closer and suddenly the car unlocked itself!!!
My wife got worried that the person wich the car belongs is comming and got 2-3 steps away  as i said to her Congratulations, It's yours! :D
She didn't believed me at the first, so i gave her the keys with the remote control to convince her.
And little later(2 days realy) she wanted me to change this, put that, paint those on the car.
So here are some refreshing mods i did to Blue:

She haven't got any alu wheels so Anti donated it's 14" wheels,
And the winther tyres went to the steel ones:

A first i put a V6 strutbrace on it(it's previous owner said that he bought it from someone in the UK, maybe someone from this club?!)

Then bought those shiny washers and bolts and put them on the headcover and everywhere i could on the engine bay, also got those purplle HT leads clamps:

Bought some V6 spats and mounted them:

Bought, painted and mounted V6 lip infront:

Installed Anti's old Remus and painted it's body black again as it was half peeled:

Put on it the old drums from Anti(when i changed them with disks on Anti) as the rear drums on Blue were in bad condition and the handbrake was loose, also repainted them purrrrrplle  (and the front brakes too):

^^^At that time i had bought some wheel nuts, purplle it is!

Bought and glued a wing on her, as she haven't got one. That was first attempt, second attempt(WIN) was drilling holes in the 5-th door and attaching it with bolts as the polyurethane gave up and the wing almoust flew out when driving..(no pics)

Lowered her with H&R springs 30/30 for aesthetic look:

They are not purplle!! hip hip hooray!!

^^^only front ones done..

Got some pedal pads and fitted them(again purplle, don't ask why):

Mounted some horns on it(my wife didn't knew about that)
She was surprised and smiled when she honked for the first time..

Put a tow strap on it.. purplle..

And now i'm making a daylights like on Anti, the one is almoust done:

To be continued...

Blue however did got new things:
As my Wife said: "This is Blue's backpack for school"

Thule bars(from Anti) and a Thule box (from my friend with his ex v6)

Wow, how easy is to load and unload stuf from it!
All lowered, all short cars realy, are alot easier for this kind of luggage carrying.I remember one of my friend had a VW Sharan with a box - nightmare to get something from its box!You need minimum 3-4 step ladder to do it.
I'm thinking about searching for original bars, because these interfere somethimes with the car side windows. But for now will stay like this.
Cheers!

Edit:
Forgot to mention the new disks and pads infront..

Hi people,
i had some time lately(wow i have time :D ) so i editted the pictures of Blue with the 17" Postert wheels.
I almoust managed to make (with microsoft paint  ) the same colour like the spray paint i got for them. Here's the result:

About the daylight problems i typed earlier, i sourced all headlight parts lying around in my basement and found out that the 3-rd attachment point for the low beam(wich is not tunable,it's just a pivot) has shorter and longer pivots, thus making the lence go further out or in.I found only one shorter and will have to figure out another, so the headlights will be "cooked" again.
If i did the headlights with long pivots the previous time i overhaul them this will be easy.Or am i wrong? We'll see.
Here is what i "talk" about:

Hi people, just to up the wife's car tread.
I did a test fit and quick go of the old tablet i had from a while.I had feeling it could fit in the car and it did(just a small crack at the right side but there will be the wake up button, flash card and AUX.
Here is one bad picture:

I had to use my phone battery jump conected to the tablet's batery(as it's dead) so to be able to hear something
The button you see is just for temporary use( i will use much more eye-catching one) :D
I put a 2x40W amplifier with a heat sink (amateur kit) after the tablet so it could power up the car's speakers.
They are only two(front doors), rear ones doesn't have any speakers, altought there's wires.
For now this will do the trick. If it last i could go for 4x50W with two rear speakers.if the sound pleased me.
First impressions are "Mmm.. good",the thing is that the amplifier needs a bit more voltage than the accumulator so it starts when the engine is running(14.4V) at 12V doesn't work.So this definately won't be the amp i will use.At the end it cost 7.90BGN so who cares.
What do you guys and girls think?
I thought about 2-din, but this is a bit more "flexible" not just music oriented.Oooh it has camera! i can take selfies as i drive LOL...
I think i can extend it's wires and put it at the rear number so my wife can use it as a parking safety feature.
So overal spent money are:
Tablet - already had it
Amp - 7.90BGN
Heatsink - already had it
Conectors(to car harness) - 3.99BGN
Cables - already had them

Total: 12BGN 8)

That looks sweet, I had a similar idea to do a built in sat nav as I don't think I could live without my cd's in the car, I know you could just download a playlist of songs, but im old and cd's are nice and easy...lol

I know what you mean by that easy CD's.But they tend to get scratched with time, also my radio in Anti is dying, it sometimes refuses to get the discs out, they stuck and there's no way getting it out.
I had to disassemble the radio twice last month.
The whole scheme is to get Blue's radio into Anti. It's with an AUX and flashcard.
That way both sides are happy! ;)

Soo, time has passed from my last post here..
Family does take alot of your "free" time
Blue has some new battery bracket:

And i'm thinking about something special for it, but i'm still not exactly sure that i'll complete it to 100%..
So i'll just put one picture here of what i'm preparing for Blue and will leave the other on your imagination ;) :

If someone's got questions, please, ask.
Cheers!

Step by step going forward..

I checked the position of the turbo on the old head from Anti, it fits great, the dimentions are good, but the radiator will be changed with one from honda so we get more space for pipes and such..

The radiator is from a Civic, the fan is from Accord because it's with better cooling qualities..
The intercooler i have is enourmously big so he'll be resized from this:

to this:

It just need welding now.
That's for now, quarantine is of now (atleast in our city) so things are slowly getting back to normal.
Cheers!

Hi people,
this days of "nightmare" are slowly fading away so i have some opportunity to do some work on the cars.
I managed to dissasemble the whole front end of Blue so to be able to measure the space needed for the intercooler, pipies, mannifold with turbo,exhaust..
So here are some pics of it:

After measuring the intercooler i immediately understood that AC will no longer exist inside Blue, so - weight reducing :D

The manifold with turbo looking nicely tidy inside, but still i will use a civic aluminium radiator like in Anti so to be able to get the heat out of the engine and to save some space in the engine bay.

The intercooler did required some frame cuttings, small amount but still.

When with bumper it rather looks normal 1.5 sooo stealth mode on!
There is still alot of things to be measured/done, but my wife needed the car so i reasembled it again so to be driveable.
Stay tuned!

I haven't post here from some time, thing are slowly comming together.
After seeing that the radiator from honda will provide enough space for the other parts i ordered full aluminium radiator and waited it to come and rework it so it fits sideways.

Thats pretty F ing sweet mate, sooooo....not a massive turbo, are you going to stick with stock internals and low boost, and how about ecu? i'm asking as genuinely interested.

Realy shooting in the dark here, but i think 0.2-0.3bar with stock will be the limit it can handle without damaging the engine to death.Maybe slowly, but not from the first start
No ecu for now, i'm interested if the stock ecu can cope with more air and more fuel(as i will put the 257cc injectors from 1.8 wich i previously ran on Anti)
I made some rude calculations, but if the engine run on 0.1bar that will be more power output than the mods i made on Anti, soo it should be faster as losses from pumping air (in n/a engine) kills it at hi revs.
So now i'm trying to mod a waste gate and BOV valve to be able to get the boost from the turbo down as the gate is set to 0.5 and the BOV is vaccum operated only..
I think i made the BOV with 0.3bar opening, but if i leave the gate as it is at high revs the car will whistle troughout the BOV while stil going up the rpms..
I tested the car as it is(with the turbo blowing in the air) it starts to spin(hearing whistle from spining) from arround 3K rpms, but when in engine it should starts from let's say 2.2-2.5K rpms.
We will see.
Cheers!

sweet, sounds good, would be better for it to spool up higher on the rev range as you know driving at say 60ish mph youre hitting 3k revs so driving under boost all the time would help kill off the engine, but its not too high so should make for fun drives out

So here we are, trying to kill one Z5 engine..
0.3bar of boost.. with stock injectors is cutting acceleration on 3-4K rpms, so
the stashed injectors from 1.8 BP engine come in handy as they are 257cc compared to the stoc 161cc.
With them the car felt like crazy..
I managed to test it with a friend of mine with his E46 2.0Td
He stayed with me the whole way, althought he said that i'm pulling away slightly.
That sayed, Blue is with the roof box and another person in it(pasanger) exsept me.
I'm really pleased from the way the things come together.
Here is a video of testing the boost with the stock injectors still in:

https://youtu.be/YbmE6Bb8vXA

After that i changed them with the 1.8s.
I need to think a way to lower the boost a bit as it hit 0.4 when driving with the BMW, but not in a hurry to do it.
Cheers for now!

Little up on the issue,
The F is still going strong!
I can't believe this little engine is whitstanding the pressure of the turbo without decompressioning.
We drove it like a family car most of the times, but i get it once or twice a week for a run from home to work and back.
I'm realy harsh on it sometimes and it still surprises me.
I had it going at 0.4 for month or so, after that i put the pressure up to 0.5 and left it there.
Couple of monts on 0.5 and still strong.
Who said that Z5 cannot hold boost???
I'm taking it to dyno because it deserves it.
Will post info later.
Cheers!

Sooo, pictures speaks louder than words:

From 88HP 132NM stock N/A engine
to 139HP 220NM boosted to 0.45Bar

It's a little rich at low to mid range revs, but at high it's just perfect!
I will maybe try the 212 xedos injectors and make another test but not in a hurry.

Cheers people!

Wow, this is great. Really cool to see and I hope the engine can handle the torque long term!

Hi HMT, thanks for the good wishes!
If i have to be honest the only thing i felt from the car troughout those 5 monts boosted is only one clutch slip wich i think was my fault leaving my foot to rest over the clutch pedal changing from 2-3rd gear..
SO far so good.. :D

Soo, the car is at great shape by my opinion, no signs of troubles so far.
I've did a little research on the internet and found a dyno chart of a 1.5 BA.
I've compared the charts from my runs with the dyno run on that specific BA run and the numbers surprised me once again!
We've managed to acomplish to 60% more power and 67% more torque at specific RPMs

Here is the run on the car:

Here is the run i found on the internet:

seing it made 94HP i believe that it has some sort of CAI and other mods, but i put the original power into the math because i want to see differences between stock and boosted F.
The temperatures are almost identical, the air pressure is slightly lower on my dyno test.

So, here are the numbers within RPMs:

2K

stock - 30HP, 95NM
boost - 40HP, 130NM +30%HP, +37%NM

3K

stock - 55HP, 126NM
boost - 80HP, 180NM +46%HP, +43%NM

4K

stock - 75HP, 132NM
boost - 120HP, 220NM +60%HP, +67%NM

5K

stock - 88HP, 125NM
boost - 139HP, 190NM +58%HP, +52%NM

6K

stock - 88HP, 110NM
boost - 135HP, 160NM +54%HP, +45%NM

6.5K

stock - 85HP, 90NM
boost - 133HP, 145NM +57%HP, +61%NM

Sweet!

So, the turbo gave up first!
It started to leak oil into the compressor side and getting the MAF dirty, the car when cold has developed the sindrom " missing light throttle".
Now i'm searching amongst all parts shops near me a new cartridge for it to make it like new.
Cheers!

The turbo is asembled with the new cartridge, new restrictor (2mm hole) and with the relocated entry hole.
Now i can fit new filter on it.
BUT, last night it started to snow, today the cars and everything outside is covered with 20-30cm of snow..
What luck, he he..
At least the childrens are happy, i couldn't get them in for a couple of hours..
Cheers for now!

Just out of interest, which turbo did you go for?

The turbo is from Peugeot 406 2.1TD Garrett T15, but it's modified a bit.

So, as with all good news comes the bad news..
My wife's car didn't like oil anymore and it started spiting it out through cranck case ventilation system hoses..
There is some blow by, not that much but it's not the normal amount.
I'm preparing some parts to rebuild it with spacer to lower the compression ratio a bit, smaller injectors and maybe 0.3-0.4bar boost.
Sould be a reliable set up.
We will see.
Cheers!
