Never actually posted my lantis here, fellow user Serena urged me to and here it is.

My 1996 1.5 323f BA
Has around 63000km currently, had around 57000km when I bought it almost a year ago.




Not much really to say. It's in amazing condition, the exterior and interior, low mileage aswell as I stated. Love it so much.

Since I got I haven't done much to it although there are a few things I want to do.
I converted the headlights except the brights with an HID kit, the bumper lights with leds.
Attached an exhaust tip to make the rear look abit nicer.
Replaced the air filter with a k&n panel.
Most recently I made a lip out of a rubber strip off ebay for the front bumper.

There are more things I'd like to do, such as lower it slightly, install a cold air intake (regardless whether it's worse for power or not ), install a front strut bar, maybe get some sort of performance exhaust, replace the aftermarket stereo with a double din unit. So far things like that.

Would love to hear what you guys have to say or if anyone has any questions

Very nice indeed, id recommend a drop of around-40mm, still get all the comfort and the drive feels so much nicer too. And with a brace added too it will be much more responsive too. Id highly recommended a rear strut brace too

Haha thanks, yea I'm glad one of the previous owners chose that. I forgot to mention, I'm thinking of naming it but I don't really know what to, with the number plate starting with LRT. Any ideas? Preferably female (idk why )

Dont worry too much about naming the car, it will choose its own name, my first F had terrible steering, i called it dancer, the second was built from many cars, i called it womble, etc. This new one is still to be named, though after a long drive it got covered in bugs....im tbinking this one may be called Bugsy

Yea I want to get eibach lowering springs for it but can't afford the 150euro for them plus however much a mechanic would charge to fit them really right now, especially since I'm a student but I will be getting them at some point, hopefully soon

150 only? I think I paid more in Portugal for the Eibach -30mm
Installation it's sad it is something we can't easily do at home

swapping springs is pretty straightforward if you have the right equipment, spring clamps and follow the guide from on here (guides section BA). just be aware of the possibly dangers and work carefully and all will be good

Besides, rear ones didn't even need a spring clamps, you can easily push them with your body weight and that's enough to put or remove the nut on the strut.
Front ones are another beer! they need clamps.

As the guys say, switching is a straightforward process, and you only need a jack and axle stands and basic tools. You could do it yourself, although it's easier with someone to help.

Me and AndyM swapped suspensions between my car and his, in a car park, with just a jack and stands (I had his shocks and springs, he had my racing coilovers - it's on my V6 thread).

However getting the shock absorber off the hub can be heavy work, especially if the nuts have never been undone. Also, unless you can undo your rear droplinks, you will need to cut them off and fit a new set.

When you change the front, be very careful not to let the hub drop, and the driveshafts fall out!!

When you do the job, it's a good time to check inside the suspension turrets for rust, and to treat inside the top of the turrets while the shock absorbers are out. Inspect the top mounts as well, and replace them at the same time if they're looking bad.

If you switch to coilovers you don't even have to take the spring off the shock absorber, just drop the entire leg + spring out of the car, in one piece, and replace the entire thing with the coilover

Just thought I'd add some stuff to show what I've done so far.
The first thing I changed when I got the car were the number plate lights, ordered LED replacements off ebay and was happy with the result.




I also changed the interior light to an LED aswell as the light in the boot


An HID kit was installed for the headlights which a fellow member generously gifted me and also changed the bumper lights to LEDs.



The most recent thing I done, last week, was take out the aftermarket stereo that the previous owner installed, aswell as remove the cubby hole above it and install a double din unit.






I'm going to try and install a reversing camera soon, I also have a few more things planned later on in time

After a whole day of fiddling yesterday I finally got the reversing camera installed.
Had to take off all the trim of the boot gate and also of the boot and some trim on the right hand side rear side to manage to route the cables properly and find the wires I had to splice into (which I didn't manage to find).
I followed the wires from the reversing light to the harness where it connects with the body and then followed the wire I thought was the correct one into the body but apparently it wasn't, couldn't find any diagrams anywhere either so I just spliced into the positive and negative of the reverse light and ran wires directly from it and ran it with the factory harness through the rubber conduit into the body and under the headliner and into the boot to connect to the camera which I mounted using zip ties and wood, mounting the wood to the crash bar of the rear bumper (to avoid drilling into the bumper). I then ran the video cable to the front of the car going through the trim which was already off and then running it along the rubber along the windows, down the right hand side of the dash, under and into the centre console.







Works a treat

I've got a few things ordered on ebay which will arrive between november and december.
Remote central locking, mazdaspeed valve caps, mazdaspeed door latch covers and a usb thing instead of the cigarette lighter. I'll be changing my wheels at some point either at the end of the year or sometime next year aswell as get a dual exit exhaust. Those are the plans for the near future, I do have a long list of things I'd like to do though

Replaced the cigarette lighter with a 2 port usb hub.

I have been looking at getting a USB socket and getting rid of the cigar lighter too.
Like the idea of the ones with the voltage read out in them.

Got variable intermittent wipers installed today
Took me 2 days to do as couldn't figure out how to re install the new unit lol
Very happy with it now.

Installed a cone filter a few weeks ago





Have yet to create a metal bracket to hold the cone filter more securely and so that it's a less ratchet setup lol

Dirty Angel

The only inspiration I can point towards is the fact that she is always dirty and it was inspired by a song I really like. Dirty Angel by Airbourne. The name popped into my head when I was talking to a friend and referred to my car as 'in all her dirty glory' and here we are now.

Nope, that's the way it's meant to be. If it's the other way round the bonnet doesn't close.

You should use some oil on that filter!It looks dry.
Also it moves with the engine revving, do not tie it down to anything or it will eventually rip the filter apart from rubbing!
For it's name the car looks overall pretty clean from my PC screen (you wash it before taking pictures, got ya!)
The brace you put should be with the bigger bend to the right wheel top mount as you have already mount it once.
What is the problem with the bonet not closing??

The way it is in that photo is the correct way. The bonnet closes and the little notch in the bar is aligned perfectly with the intake manifold.



In this photo it was put on the wrong way round and the bonnet wouldn't close with it like that.

Now i see what i wrote early..
I meant that the biger bend on the brace should be at the right topmount while you stand infront of the car looking toward it.The battery side..
When i re-read it now, i understood that it could lead to confusion..
My bad.
