We've all talked about a Christmas meet up/ meal together as a club for the past few years now and never really got together and done anything. So do you guys fancy one this year?

Location:
The Oak,
Coventry Rd,
Baginton,
Coventry
CV8 3AU

I have a good rapport with the owner of The Oak who's offered to host our meet. They have quite a few rooms with breakfast available for people travelling also which helps. We can all get together, have a nice meal or buffet then have a few drinks and a laugh :) I believe the room's are around £50 for the night with full English but we may get a discount if we book multiple.

There are a few dates above which I'll ask you to choose one of please so I can see what the take up will be and what date would be most suitable. If you don't fancy coming or can't make it then......you suck :p

Lee, why not pin this thread somewhere? Even some "regulars" don't come on the forum that often, it will just slip down out of sight.

And perhaps PM / text the regular crowd, as time is getting short. I wouldn't just rely on them seeing it on the forum :thumbleft:

Agree 100%. And you've expressed it better than I ever could. I'm also 'social media free' (apart from chat groups such as these).

Good luck with the Christmas meet.

I gotta disagree, social media is so easy there are just more numpty's visible to us. Facebook etc gets the blame for for a lot of stuff, no its not facebooks fault you were pictured kissing someone you shouldnt and no its not facebook fault some nugget told the world a pack of lies or distorted the turth. It's you for doing it or you for not checking things out. All media is distorted, you don't know the story from 1 perspective

With the 1st of December only 10 days away should we confirm who can defiantly attend?
I think the Oak is a good idea unless anyone else has other suggestions.

Provisionally, the Club "Christmas" meet is happening on 5 January at The Oak (details top of the thread).

Lee has yet to book it with the pub, but thinks the date shouldn't be a problem.

If you want to go and haven't confirmed yet, please leave a message below ASAP so Lee/the pub are aware of approximate numbers.

It would be fantastic to see our more northerly members off-season, if you can make it down to Coventry: the pub can offer rooms (usually £40 incl full English), or there should be plenty of local hotel availability the week after New Year.

And Patrick, I know you'll be there, obviously

S

EDIT: Just for info, The Oak website currently saying £55 for that night vs Lee's £40 - maybe they'll cut us a deal, as we'll probably be taking it over

Thanks Serena! :thumbleft:

I'll be going down to see them this weekend anyway so if i can get an approximate number then great :) Once booked, I'll confirm with a phone number so people can arrange overnight bookings if they want to :)

Hey Patrick, it's right next to the airport! Just add a 424 to your 323 and what do you get?

...an A/C that's just been- or about to be- retired from Oz skies after 47+ years  so sorry it won't help getting me there! It's not even doing the Sydney-London route anymore, nor has been for some time.

I grew up living under or near some of the flight paths and in particular, at ~9:40pm every night, regular as clockwork, a Qantas 747 would come by, lumbering up into the sky under full power, with full pax, full luggage and full fuel. I think it was (if current flights are the same) QF25 to Tokyo (Haneda). Apart from their unmistakable profile, there's a particular resonant roar to 747s that I miss. :sad11:

Thanks guys for thinking of me though! :thumbright:

Downunder, if our weather forecast holds we stand a good chance of a smoky, burnt, black Christmas/New Year here rather than a white one. :evil5:

Meal now definitely booked for the 5th - Lee needs numbers, stat, so if you were prevaricating about going, then prevaricate no more & let him know! :thumbleft:
