Hi guys, I have a 134,000 mile 1.5 BJ.
It idles fine and it is fine once you're out on the road.
BUT, at the point where you start to squeeze the accelerator there is a hesitation and sometimes jerkiness.
I have changed the spark plugs which made no difference.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Quite a list of things to check really.

start with the hoses and pipes, egr valve, fuel filter, maf, coil packs...

I did clean the EGR a few months ago, or was it the MAF?
My memory is crap, may have been both.
Where's the fuel filter?

When mine stated doing this is was the air flow meter (MAF), then the second time it happened it was the spark plugs.

It definitey feels electrical to me, are the plug leads available at a reasonable price?

Thanks Zippy, what an excellent guide by 'jimbob', and what a hassle just to change a filter!

I managed to get a used coil and lead for £20.
Swopped out one coil pack/lead - no change.
Swopped the other - solved.
So either the coil or the lead was faulty.
Sometime when it stops raining I'll resubstitute separately so I know whether I have a good spare coil or spare lead.
