Whilst taking an-all-too-common trip down memory lane (or memory garage, really) I decided to try and find pics of all the cars that I've had over the years. Then I decided to share them. There have been "what cars have you owned" threads before but this is is all about the pics.

Unfortunately I don't have as many photos as I thought I did. I only have 1 surviving photo of my first F and I think I'll have to rake around on some old computer to find any of my second (blue) F. But still plenty of the Lantis.

My first car was a Micra. Almost identical to this one. No surviving pics of my one either but it was a great car. Super reliable and despite the fact it was pretty much neglected it never let us down. A lot of fond memories of this car!



The Micra was eventually scrapped in 2004 (although if we'd replaced the blowing exhaust and broken window I dare say i would have went on and on) and it was replaced with a Corsa SXi. I don't have any pics of this one handy but as it's probably my least favourite car that I've owned I don't mind so much. I owned this along with my sister who, a couple of years later, bought my half ownership of the car from me so then I had to find myself a new car. My friend's Dad had an F. I was speaking to him about my car search and I was bemoaning my budget not being good enough (£2k) and he said "You can get 2 cars for that!" So I started looking for a 323f and this one came up just a short drive from Aberdeen:



We actually walked away from this one as the seller was very unwilling to budge on price but shortly after we'd left he called and changed his mind so I was happy enough to go back and pick it up. Drove it home (untaxed ) and it sat on the drive for a few agonising days for the insurance to come through so I could tax it. Had it's MOT a week later and it sailed through without needing anything. The only issue this car had was sometimes the stereo would cut out as it there'd been a split second power cut. This one was written off after a mix of unfortunate circumstances culminated in it hitting a kerb, losing the front passenger side wheel and carrying on along the road on 3 wheels. I really miss this car! Although it's heart would be re-used later.

The next car I had was a 1998 aquarius blue Intrigue. I went down to London to buy it and also the mileage had been clocked and 100k wiped off it it served me well because when the engine started smoking (as soon as I put oil in it) I had the engine from my first F ready to be transplanted. Cost me £250 but the donor engine was in cracking nick so now I had a cracking car. I used this one until one MOT time when the garage wanted about £800 to put it through. After repeatedly telling them that I wasn't going to pay that they took it down to £600 but by then I'd decided that I wanted a Type-R. I waited patiently and one finally came up for sale in London again. Members of this forum at the time might recall the struggle it was dealing with the seller. The car was a non-runner up until the day before I was due to go down and pick it up. Col even sent a starter motor (in advance of receiving payment) to help everything go smoothly. The seller eventually fitted the motor and confirmed the car started. So I went down with my partner and picked it up. Met up with Col on the way back up north and passed on the cash from Dean for the starter motor. I got the car home and then began the long process of repairing the car! Stu.13, Stuz and many others I still owe a drink to after they helped me source parts. Unfortunately the rear arches rusted quickly and I eventually sold the car very reluctantly. To help with the heartbreak of selling my Type-R I bought the Subaru. It was a great car. Great fun. Quick and handled really well.



It was never intended as a long term purchase. I sold it 6 months later when I bought a house to cut some fat in the old finances. And the first night I lived at my new place the Scooby was vandalised in the street. So I went for something that wouldn't attract any unwanted attention. It was a comfy car and nice to drive. It did the A to B run just fine:



Until some electrical issues caused a misfire which my garage couldn't get to the bottom of. After driving my sister's new Civic and really liking it I decided to go down a similar route myself. The Golf was traded in which brings me to my current car. The ever reliable but oh-so-uninspiring Civic:



The Civic is great as a commuter. I often walk, cycle or motorcycle to work but I do have the urge for something that handles as well as a BA again hence my search despite saying that the Type-R would be my final BA. Maybe it still will be. But I do crave more power. And since I'm not as skint as I once was I'm also looking at getting something with boost. If I could get something with the handling of a BA and the speed of the Impreza I'd be happy!

Despite having used forums for most of these cars over the years this is the only one that I still return to. Just because it's the best. I appreciate all the help and advice that you guys have provided me over the years.

That is all very interesting. I have owned many cars in my long motoring career beginning with a 1933 Austin Seven box saloon (£35 10s) to my present BA and Fiat Panda. In between there have been two Mk6 Bentleys, a 3.8 mk2 Jag, seven BMW 3's and 7's, 5 old style Panda's, Subaru, Vanden Plas, Citroen CX, GS, BX, Alfa, MG, Range Rover.......and many many more. I even owned a Mazda 626 a few years ago. It was a boxy thing that played noises to keep you informed of what was going on. If you left the lights on a phone rang....that kind of thing. The kids loved it! I even bought a Rover 827 because the Honda v6 under the bonnet looked so good. The rest of the car was crap however. Only two cars were new a Citroen CX Familiale with 8 seats and our present Panda which is now 8 years old. I find that cars define ones life. First sexual experience?.....1946 Ford pop Van......rush to hospital for birth of babies? BMW 735......taking Daughter to Uni........Astra estate.......that kind of thing. Car most fun to drive? Alfasud ti. Most comfortable car? BMW. Fastest car? TVR Tuscan. Worst car? Probably a Golf. Funniest car? Fiat Sienciento sporting in yellow....such a suitable car for a 66 year old man!

But you know I like my BA. It is comfortable, reliable, handles well and is distinctive looking. I can see no real reason to change after three and a half years......I'd like an XJ 6 though.......
