Look mah, no legs!!!

Ages and ages ago I had a spoiler with no legs, so I bought a piece of A3 sized 5mm thick aluminium, and started cutting a pair of legs out. Cheapest option! If you have a big hacksaw or grinder, and a drill, and some patience

ha ha, it could be worth a go, its got the fixing pionts on the underside, one of my brothers works with CAD CAM, so i might try a custom design for a set......
cant complain though as it cost very little, but it needs a bloody good clean and compound so that should keep me busy for a while.
Got in touch with Lerch about the shocks too 8)

Ooo get your brother to do it then, much nicer end result! Make a cardboard template and give it to him saying "ere lad, make this in 5mm aluminium" :thumbleft:

Nice work, I'll nudge him today

just got myself a new set of springs n shocks courtesy of Lerch :D
whirlwind deal between the two of us, but a nightmare with getting them here, the courier lost them.......but then found them
just waiting for a break in the weather then i can get the car up on the stands and swapped over.
Image
they have a -60mm drop and from having a look at the way Vulcan sat on them im getting quite excited about fitting them.

so if anyone fancies any -40mm springs i may have a set for sale soon :D

Just a quick question: when going to -60mm lowering does you need shorter shocks or you can go with the standart ones? What about -40mm?

no these springs are fitted to standard, unchanged shocks. The same for the -40mm springs too :D
i was a little dubious about going lower than -40 as i have a full car at times and a little worried that even an extra -20mm might be too much of a problem, but after a few chats im quite happy with dropping that extra little bit

Mine was on -60mm for quite a while and they were no harder than the -40's I had on Maddy :) never had any problems with the -60's

Lerch, so how harder they are compared to default ones ? so its not tree hard ? :)
p.s. wonder why my empty cars front its higher then rear ... :| but allready ,my espace lip is touching lots things were i take car .. so wouldnt be possible even drive with lowered ones i guess.. good that lip is soft so its not braking. 8)

Finally a day if sunshine.......woo hoo :D

the rear suspension is all swapped over now, not too bad a job really, just a bit fiddly and an appearance from 'that f*****g nut'

Image

will give Womble time to settle into the new springs before i get any pics as at the moment there is no noticable lowering, but she feels tight as a drum when i took her out for a drive, just the fronts to sort out tomorrow, and the weather is set to be good again too :D 8)

Yep will do, though dont expect a dramatic drop tho, dont forget i already have -40mm drop so there will only be an extra -20mm drop

yeah this is -40mm drop, though with me just fitting them, they actually sit higher at the moment, the springs need time to settle for a little while, ill get some pics taken soon so you can see the difference
the difference in the handling is already there though, tight as a drum all round. a little bit stiffer, but i like it like that, even better on the twisty's now too 8) :D

good then. and about that stiffness.. how about other passengers in car, would they feel that stiffness like if road is bumby and stuff ? i mean how you feel yourself road now ? 8) i mean bad road
by cars high i cant actualy see what those -40mm did there. so 60 mm should be more visiable i guess
what about this kinda vilage road
Image

or this

yeah i cant wait till the car settles into the new springs, looked very nice on Lerch's pics 8)

yes this is true, i only have tiny wheels, 15inch, with a bigger wheel it plays a trick on the eye making them fill the arches better, but the bigger the wheel the smaller the sidewall on the tyre, so too big a wheel with to thin a tyre, plus stiffer suspension would make for a horrible ride for a daily driver, im very happy with the results though :D

Sure. Some cars are made for look or performance here. and some need daily driving and comfort. like in summer traveling long distances to sea, rivers or lakes, in forest. So yes low's great for city and perfect roads. And in some roads where I was last summer just wouldnt be possible with low car.
