time for an update i think......its been a slow week really, back at work after the holidays... :(

playing the waiting game on a few parts and stickers, but i did get some blue carbon fibre style wrap for a few quid on ebay, so since its finally stopped raining i decided to give the car some eyebrows....much to the girlfriend's bemusement.....

due to a blow on the exhaust filling the car with nasty fumes i replaced the downpipe and then when the weather turned i decided to polish the horn(s)....quite impressed, not totally finished but happy with progress so far :D

which has become.....

things going slowly at the moment, monthly pay is a right bugger, so next update will happen at the end of each month :)

Looking good mate

Reminds me I need to change my horn for a rover one, as it sounds like a duck farting in a cupboard, not a very manly

well a little update, had a knocking on the passenger side front which sounded like a ball joint issue, so i popped to motor factors and grabbed a pair of ball joints....

still very happy about the condition of the underbody of the car, which is relatively rust free so getting the joints off was no bother at all with a bit of wd40
Image

now there would have been more pics here, but i was sidetracked for 8 hours locating and fitting both front shocks, brakes etc on the brother in laws honda lucida, long story to be continued on another forum....didnt get finished till half one this morning....

however fllwing the guide section on here, the job for the BA was very straight forward :D and less than two hours later i was rewarded with this
Image

i did also buy the track rod ends but i didnt have the energy to fit them this morning

i still have a knock when turning the wheels lock to lock, could this be the rod ends?

the drive however is much much smoother and not at grindy sounding so happy with work on them

two nice shiny new ball joints
8)

Also check the little rods connecting the shocks to the anti roll bar. If they look crap replace them, only cost a tenner each.

sneakz - yeah the drop links are in not too bad condition, bit of emery paper and they are all good again.
Baz - i tell the true, what a nightmare that was, rusted bolts, split brake lines, drop links which needed to be rethreaded by hand to m10 size, having to (sadly) buthcher a perfectly good(in my opinion) drivers side strut, the list goes on....
but back to the car....nearly let its name slip there ;)
im unc
decided as to whether remove them alltogether, or colour code them, have you seen lee n nathan's car 'the lady in red'? all colour coded in....looks stunning

Thanks mate, another reason we kept them is it protects your doors a bit from car park door dings! :)

 Nightmare in deed , oh yes i have most defiantly seen the lady in red she gets me reaching for the tissues every time... beautifully 8) love the colour coded but mine has a few dings in the top part of the plastic and not sure if they can be filled?? undecided as of yet, but like Rock has said they would protect the doors cracking up dates though Paul keep em coming :thumbright:

your both right guys, as you say they will help protect the doors from future dings, but also with them on they break the doors up a bit so slight dings are not so obvious.....but i really am not a fan of them, but the more colour coded examples i see im very much leaning toward the colour coding, i have a set of door handles on order for mwe to collect at the weekend and the intention was always to colour code them :D

today i picked up my new spoiler for the car....a bit gutted as it seems my ability to count in numbers has let me down....the spoiler is about 2inches too wide.....
it has come from an MG zs 180

Image

Image

however...i am still very happy with it, it will be modified, probably by taking two inches from the middle...
looking at the straight on shot from the rear it does very much compliment the shape of the rear wings in my opinion, so let the modding begin :D

cheers ayrton :D , there is a non cutting method ive found after having a bit of a jiggle around with it....i can move it forward about half an inch, it will overhang the shut line of the boot but not by a great deal, or as much in the pictures...hmmmmm decisions decisions. And yes definately a respray :D

cheers andy :D , at the moment im pretty much decided on the non-cut method, its a 3mm overhang on both sides of the boot shut line.
I think its so noticeable at the moment due to it being bright yellow 8) , once its primered and colour coded i dont think it will be so much of an issue.....we will see though, it can be cut and fixed but will possibly always be noticed that it has been, something i would rather avoid, as well as a body shop bill, if it goes t**s up it only cost me £25 and ive still got the original

Just saying if it were me from a styling point of view I would be trying to get that wing as far back on the boot lid as possible

thats the dilema..... :? , ive cut them before on my older cars and they are a right chew on, its mainly a case of pinning the joint and then smoothing down the lip, oh and very carefull and zig zag sawing to give maximum surface area for the bonding agents to cover....
but you are right, from a styling point of view it is the further back the better 8)

update time....so far so good :D , got it measured, cut and test fitted :D here is the result so far

Image

gotta say its turned out very well, and if you compare the first pics you can now see that it sits a good 1.5"(inches) further back on the boot lid...

all i need to do not is strengthen and bond it etc etc, im taking plenty of pics as i go along so i can make a guide for anyone else interested in having a go

Are you propping it up in the middle or is that a third mounting bracket
