I was thinking with rolling the arches, how that would affect the possibilty of rusting, but then I guess you have less of a lip for mud etc to build up in?

If you don't split the paint, the outer surface remains the same. I have applied plenty of underseal paint up into the arch before rolling, and will seam seal the lip to stop water getting into the gap

that said, on some parts the paint was already split...by the rust...so those bits will require different treatment

Bought a Kode steering wheel at JAE, managed to yoink a Nardi boss today, so I was able to fit it

I wanted something that wasn't too modern, needed a retro look to it...think this fits the bill nicely

Repaired the fuel tank again...I guess chemical metal was only good for a couple of years...

Used POR-15 petrol tank repair, but used it on the outside, and laid some cloth onto the painted surface, and then painted that too - seems to make a rock hard shell, and it has cured the leaks...just hope it's a permanent fix, I doubt I'll attempt a repair again, next time it will need a new tank made.

MOT booked for tomorrow...fingers crossed!

Yesterday Karissa and I had a very long day...it should have been a quick trip out, but we ended up parked on the M25 for a few thousand years (ok, maybe not that long, but it was a long time )

We came home with some goodies for the RX7. Something it really needs...
Needless to say, I am excited, I'm like a child...best birthday pressie I could have wished for, just a shame I won't be able to play with it just yet, not until the winter
I dropped it all off at the workshop and needed to get home...but when I'm back over there later this week I'll take a few photos. It'll be worth the wait, I assure you

It will be at JAE, but I don't have the time or money to do anything before then, so it'll be the same as last year. I have a litre of paint matched to the right colour now, so over the winter months I hope to paint the keyed panels and get it looking a bit more loved

Fitted some new goodies today

First job was to upgrade the headlights. There are two problems with the RX7 headlights; firstly the lenses are a bit pants, and secondly the wiring is thin, and the power goes through the switchgear

So, the units themselves...an easy swap really, some Wipac upgrade units, complete with Osram Nightbreaker bulbs. The old Cibies are quite poor...compare the two sets in the photo, the Wipac units are the ones at the front, much clearer



Next was a new loom, made up with 2 relays for each side, each taking power straight from the battery to the headlights



and then it was a case of pulling out the old loom, shoving the new one in, finding somewhere to bolt 4 relays, and sticking it all back together...






Second job of the day was to replace the crappy front speakers...I think they cost a fiver from Maplin

I decided to keep it Alpine, and fitted some 5" components up front, to match the 6.5" 3 ways in the back



The bass units are in the footwell, and I stuck the crossovers in there too, out of the way...tweeters are up on the dash, I might move them, or make some angled mounts, or something...but it'll do for now, no distortion, and a nice stereo image. Lovely jubby


sorry to disappoint you all that wanted to see 13Bs and turbos...but I have got a box of bits to go through...

nice job on the lights. Also I see a single SU and some exhaust pipes in the box.... Pity you cant fit a nice 45 DCOE on it... that would sound lovely on there

We collected another 12A engine at the weekend, so we now have a spare. Lots of cleaning up to do, then I'll swap the motor out and strip down our current one for a rebuild...of course, it would be rude not to bridge port it while it's on the bench
