Spent a bit of time in the workshop this morning to sort out the KL-ZE since I just "dumped" it when I bought it home. Stripped the bits and pieces, rubber hoses and brackets that will catch or cause hinderence, Took a few more pics once it was sorted ready to be stripped once I have done a compression test, waiting for Comp tester to arrive. Took a pic of my new tool box as well which I got a few months back, makes such a difference when working on the car / motor, everything atr hand where you are working.

Another item arrived today, and still waiting for a few more to arrive including some tools. This is a Scorpian alarm system and will be wired in when the ECU is fitted.

Daz, getting so excited about all the stuff I have been buying, and cant wait to get on with it, December is going to be a big month as I will have the money to move this on in a big way, engine completely rebuilt and car pretty close to being ready, then just have to get over the opp to finish it, looks like I will make JAE next year with this.

Man, just spent hours trying to repair the links for pics in my thread, that I broke by cleaning up my Photobuket account. Wont be doing that again. Hopefully most of the pics are now back, have left some out to make lees photo heavy.

Bought another steering wheel yesterday, yeah, think I might be getting a fetish for steering wheels, thats the 3 in about as many weeks. This one is however a decent one, leather Momo, not the cheap PVC ones that I bought before. So, expect to see one on the forsale section soon, wont be the MOmo, the other will go in the blue 1.5, must still start a thread for that.

Well, this is the second steering wheel that I bought a while back, along with a set of 10mm Ken Nelson plug leads, that only arrived today.

The steering wheel I actually like but still is not a leather one, this one has shiney chrome on the lower half, but is comming out as blackish chrome in the pics, but is going to be painted - yes, shocking metalic pink.

This really is becomming an obsession or fetish, my third steering wheel arrived this morning, and I DO LIKE IT.

Momo, leather and in excellent condition. came with a steering boss for a Corsa, so if anyone has a corsa and wants it, pay postage and its yours.

Well the project is on the roead again with work happening, started stripping the engine down for rebuild. Wanted the heads off today, but gat as far as the head bolts to find they are "special" and I dont have the sockets. So its off to get some tomorrow so I can get the heads off tomorrow and measure up the bores to see if it needs rebore or a hone and rings.

The cam belt and all pully bearings and tensioner appear to be brand new and not run, need to see if I can info on that from previous owner.

Debz, having a garage and all the equipment Does make a huge difference. Thats why when I got this house, if there were no garage, I wouldnt have got the house, so costs additional at the end of the day. The equipment is just a matter of collecting what you need over time which I have done, and worth every penny it costs. Of course having the garage means I have the space to keep and use them. No garage means no where for the tools and equipment.

Progress will hopefully be reasonable, daily for the next few days as I break the engine down, then its a mater of getting the parts and machining which will hopefully be done by early December and engine fully assembled and ready to run by christmas. That of course is dependant on when they opperate which could affect this considerably timing wise.

Got the heads off today, and those head bolts are regular 12 point bolts so just needed and set of the 12 or muliti point sockets, job done. Will strip all the rest from the block tomorrow then drop the sump and crank. Just need to clean ready to go for machining.
Measured the bores, and the worst is 84.45mm, now must check the tollerence allowence to see if it's just rings or rebore.

No 2 (rear bank front cylinder) The worst at 84.45mm [Seems water got in here but gaskets not blown, so from storage with manifold off, hopefully will hone clean.
Just checked the specs for clearance and it is 0.307mm to 0.563mm so hopeful to have to do rings only.

Nice engine! I'm also want a KL, but in Hungary the cops not like these changes...

why ? they can't find out whether you are driving a 2.0 or a 2.5 from the outside. Or they are common with these engines and know where to look at


Which intake manifold has it ? The long-neck? (coded M1 on the topdeck) ? I guess it is according to your pics.
Nice that you have the KL31 cams in in, they correspond to the longneck intake.

I do hope it has been driven nicely. Most ZE's are from a automatic, not a manual one
