Hi guys,

I've got a F BA 1.5 (but it won't stay a normal 1.5), and because of that (and because I think the brakes are just to small) I'd like to fit v6 brakes under my BA 1.5..

I got all the stuff to do the conversion, but there a several possibilities to get the job done. One of them is to do the 4x100 to 5x114.3 conversion, but I don't know if my 1.5 drive shafts will fit into the v6 hubs..?

All the topics here showed me different answers, so I was wondering if someone knew the answer for sure, or if anyone has done the trick before? :D

Thanks a lot!

HUGHIE is probably the best to answer this as he has done a swap from 4x100 to 5x114.4

and if you have the rear subframe from a v6 it could save a hell of a lot of arseing about 8)

Actually, I didn't do the swap, I'm still 4x100 ;) I just did a rear disc conversion using a V6 rear axle, but kept my 4x100 hubs :thumbleft:

There are so many different varieties of driveshaft it's difficult to say - your best option is to get hold of a set of V6 hubs and try your driveshafts in them.

Anyone with more knowledge than me - would I be right in saying you could remove the outer CV joints from the 1.5/1.8 driveshaft and fit the V6 hub, with the V6 CV joint onto the 1.5/1.8 shaft? So remove the boot from both, exposing the 3 bearing things inside, swap the halves over, fit new boot and repack with grease? Would that work?

That could be an option, as far as I know! Wasn't even one of my options actually! :P

I've got nearly a whole V6 car for parts, the only thing I'm not sure of is the drive shafts from the V6..
But I've got the rear subframe, so that's no problem! :)

My first problem is that I can use de 4x100 and squeeze the hubs, for the rear brakes that's no problem because de rear disks from the MX-3 of the BG GT are the same as from the V6, except they're 4x100 instead of 5x114.3 :)

But for the front disks, there is no disk that is exact the same as from the V6, except from the 4x100 instead of 5x114.3 as far as I know..! :( (Or is there any front disk with 4x100 disk which fits perfectly in the V6 caliper? :D) So I thought, maybe better swapping to 5x114.3 and change my wheels..but then the drive shaft has to fit in the hub, or I've to use your option :D

(And then, for the future there is the problem that it is an 1.5 now, but in a while it won't be an 1.5 anymore, I don't want to have troubles again when I do the engine swap.. Maybe it would be an option to swap the gearbox from the 1.5 to de G-series gearbox from the 1.8, which I also have, because the drive shafts of the G-series gearbox should fit in the V6 hubs..)

Guys, what would you do? :D

I've heard a new option, switching the differential to a V6 one, so V6 driveshaft would fit into the 1.5 gearbox :p

But, I've also measured the diameter from the driveshafts...the one from the 1.5, the 1.8 and the V6 I had, had a diameter of 24mm. So the change the 1.5 driveshaft would fit into the V6 hub is still there, but I haven't tried is for real yet! :) To be continued! :D

Break up the axles, and grab 1.5 inners and V6 outers... Break up at the green thingy...

In there they are tripod wheeled connections If I'm not mistaken...

I'd just go full 5x114.3 as I've done actually, but then you can find allot much more cool wheels aswell!! :D

It's been a while..but it was possible for me. My V6 axle fits perfectly in my 1.5 hub! :D

So with that, it's possible to fit V6 front brakes on your 1.5 / 1.8 BA! :D
