Spoke to the sales woman. she took my card details to refund payment. I'll keep an eye on things the next couple of days. Unsure about return postage I did ask and I still need to speck to the guy regarding the bill for fitting the wrong kit. I doubt he'll ring me back.
Tuner day today. Here a link to 1 of the pictures Tuning Developments took.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp ... 0717_n.jpg

As you can see its not on the Dyno and wasn't when i left :(

Turned out the installers ( Really really wish I found Tuning developments before hand :crybaby: ) Hadn't wired up the eManage blue up correctly and not installed a map? The car was running with Std Ecu . the eManage hadn't been wired up to the Injectors ....which turned out to be a blessing as it would had wrecked the engine if so .

Really not happy about it to be honest .

The guys at tuning told me they will post a video on their facebook page when its on the dyno :D Really nice guys so I hope you Japfesters and JAEer can pop along to their stand to say ello :D ( they like the 323f in all forms )
I will hunt you down to view this beauty!

Don't use it on track, if they pull you out it'll tug the rear lip off

awesome work, when is she due on the rollers for the final map? :D

That tow strap may need a little bracket to drop it down so if you were to pull it out the back it wouldnt catch on the bumper like Marc said!

Tow strap , for me. Is just for show. Even though its solid enough to tow the car It most likey wont get used too. I defiantly wont be tracking this car. :thumbright:
At a guess I'd say Ive got 1 inch clearance to the tarmac , not drove it on the road so dont really know.

Regarding final map. Ive had a few decisions to make over weekend gone. Do I continue with this build or strip and go back to NA.
Reason being,
The car HAS too have a standalone Ecu. I was hopeing that the emanage blue would be enough as it works fine on the likes of the Mx5 of the same year. Read all the warnings about it not working but went ahead with it anyway :doubt:
Our Ecus are just to advance to run a piggyback. Its fine for a short while then reverting back to std fuelling . The only time I would have know is when it all went bOOm!

The price of a standalone plus mapping is quite high and as ive not had a the cash income as I did have when started this its been a hard decision to make. Stop now sell parts and become debt free but lose out on what ive spent so far. OR carry on, owe cash for it but have something to show of it.........

Ive managed to juggle some cash flow and WILL be ordering the standalone plus mapping which 'should' be in a few weeks due to tunners work load. :thumbright:

Too many options for my liking. Looked into most and fill my head full of shit. I think im going to leave it in the hands of the tunners rather than my buying on thats not suitable. They install the Wolf Ems Standalone from Oz, which they will provide the right harness for the car. Ive spoke to another local tunners who deal with DTA ecu's based in Salford but these are more for race use. Haltech is the popular choice over in the states which they run alongside the std ecu.
Which I dont get?

i've heard on more advanced cars they leave the standard ECU in as well if it controls things other than the engine just so its easier!

the right harness one sounds like the one to me :D plug and play...

I understand why the use the std ecu, but what I dont understand is how it would still work if the ecu rejected the piggyback? thats what puzzled me.

I have my AEM FIC wired with the regular ECU but its a piggyback, i was going to do a haltech but half the features would never be used to its full potential and id be wasting money. Standalone allows you to remove the factory ecu and control the car with it. Not sure who's running both std ecu and standalone but i would not ask them for help or advice since they are making things difficult on themselves having 2 full systems in the car.

Hopefully you get things squared away soon so that you can enjoy all the hard work you have invested.

As Some of you by now will now the Turbo Build is Dead.
The Ecu side of things has killed it for me. High Price to get the fuelling and timing adjusted , lack of funds plus fresh rust appearing after a month , within the engine bay.... I just dont feel its worth completing.

Im alittle disappointed but glad Im going to get the car back on the road. There is no way I could have found the £1400 for the standalone plus mapping and then having to find away of getting back some of the systems lost by removing the factorys ecu then possibly having to pay out more...... Once running after paying out alot of cash , only running low boost due to low compression pistons . IF the eManage or other piggyback / fuel ignition controller would work then all would have been great . ( and a rust free car ;) )

Now Im just waiting for a oil sump to arrive and my KoSport header . once these are fitted I can sell my parts to recoup some cash lost.
Again , abit disappointed that it wasn't finished but glad I tried to do it even though Ive lost out cash wise.

:( I am gutted for you mate, I really am. It's a real shame you couldn't get it all finished. Hope you don't lose out too much - I take it the car still has some of the goodies, uprated clutch etc?

It's a shame that you can't complete this mad project, but completely understand your reasoning ;)

The rust in the engine bay is a royal pain in the a**e! Getting mine sorted at the end of the month :(

Sorry to hear this mate :(

I can understand why you have decided not to continue with it.

At least at the end of the day you'll get your car back on the road, and I hope you can recoup some of the cash that you have ploughed into the project

I was so looking forward to this, shame the emanage didn't work man :( Would EMU not have worked either?
What did TD say about it all?

As long as your 100% happy with the decision, then it was the right one but im still gutted i wanted to see her running! :(

the full standalone is a big step (glad Chi had already taken that step before we bought the engine!) megasquirt offer quite a cheap option though but the mapping is still expensive!

:D

TD didnt want to try another piggyback with the way the factory ecu was with the Blue. Spoke to 2 other tuners who told me the same . Would have to go standalone..

Theres a little more the the story for the Ecu. Last week I was researching a little more after a reply from theMan . Turns out I missed a 02 voltage clamp into the parts list, as this will keep the factory ecu into open loop allowing the eManage Blue to work...around a 90 pound part ,thats all 90 quid! I already sold the eManage blue and bought the exhaust manifold by this point.

More digging and replies from a later model mk2.5 mx5 owner who has boosted told me , although the voltage clamp will make the eManage blue work, its pants! The AEM Fuel and Ignition Controller works great with the Mazda adaptive learning ecu . The Ecu hardly recognises the AEM Unit when fitted along side it.

Ive estimated the total cost of the Aem AFC ecu + fitting + mapping would be around £700 . Cheaper than standalone but £700 I just havent got. plus my tuners didnt reply back to me when i told them the story :( ( I might have bored them to death? )

Still Good info to know if anyone wants a piggyback for their NA cars ;)
