Re-coding your remote key fob.

If you change the battery in the remote central locking fob, you'll need this procedure to re-code the fob.
You can also use this for coding spare or new fobs.

1. All doors closed, but unlocked.
2. Open drivers door, leave it open.
3. Put key in ignition, and turn it between ON and LOCK 3 times.
4. Remove key from ignition.
5. Press the drivers door switch 3 times (the switch that operates the courtesy light).
6. The doors should lock and unlock.
7. Press any button on the remote twice.
8. The doors should lock then unlock again.

Thats it.

i'll say something, i have never been as surprised to hear that locks operating after the 3 presses of the door switch....very impressive!! cheers guys

Ebay.
The two button ones are quite rare, so therefore a bit more expensive. The three button jobs do not work.
Be prepared to spend maybe £30 to £40. :wink:

excuse for me being dumb! but which button/switch operates the courtesy light?

i have bought a visteon 41601 and need to program it for my 03 mazda gsi, will this procedure make it work?

Yes,, thats the one you need, and the courtesy light switch is on the door latch pillar (B pillar), its a black pin switch.

ok i still dont know which switch it is lol and in the process i have just buggered something up as the car door is open and the locks are up and its not locking or letting me shut the door! please help i try and shut it with the key aswell as manually and it just keeps popping back up

at the moment i cant shut my door as the latch seems to be closed, ive tried to force it up i need to drive my car and i cant with the door opn please help!

If your door keeps unlocking it sounds like you have a door that isnt shut correctly, try your boot . The curtasy light switch is your door pin. Open your door look at the bottom of the door piller, the black thing sticking out is the door pin which operates the light
