It is a pretty easy job, just very time comsuming, you are looking at about 3 hours per door.

Not done a great deal on here today, but did a little more soundproofing and more importantly covered the mucky black factory sound deadening mat with plastic to prevent it from ruining my new leather seats. Also font a small section of rust on the floor, have removed it and cleaned it ready for welding tomorrow, pics to follow tomorrow. Checked the underside of the car today, and is in great condition, a few patches of surface rust is all. Will be srtipping that, cleaning, treating and then covering with under car sealer.

No I wasnt being lazy or loosing interest, had to do the silver ZXI's wheels, and also had a mate come round with his car for me to repair the butchered stereo wiring. (needless to say, with my mate there, too much banter and not enough getting on with the job)

Sound proofing and plastic cover seat well.

Another busy day, fitted post-Ford arial plug in line with the existing pre-Ford one, welded the hole in the floor (plate donated from a Clio) Finished the sound proofing in the boot, now just need some polystyrene to make a base for the wheel well. Refitted the cubbie hole, checked my arials to see if I had a working motor (I dont), removed and cleaned the rear winscreen washer bottle, checked the pump was working, fillled and replaced it. Checked the underside of the car, all looks good, will clean and reseal shortly. Washed and scrubbed the interior panels read to be polished tomorrow before refitting. Polished a small section of the bonnet with "T-Cut" by hand to check how it will come up, think with a little effort, it is going to be great. some pics;

Started refitting the interior, vacumed, then shampoed the carpet, then vacumed again and left in sun to dry. Cut and fitted some additional underlay for the carpet, used the 4mm sound proofing, left it loose so it can be removed for cleaning. Fitted the carpet then vacumed it again. Polished all the trim panels and center consol that were washed yesterday before refitting them securely, no rattles or squeaks from that for sure. Polished the dash and then stripped the steering wheel to fit the new one, will finish that in the morning. Removed the broken arial and fitted a temp rubber gromet till I have one of my arials fixed and working. Ah !! fitted the leather gear lever gaiter. Also checked the bulb in the lighter and ashtray, had to replace the ashtry bulb, so all working now.

Thanks Howie, just takes so much time when one is annul about it, as I am, but it is clean and as perfect as possable. Every nut, bolt, screw and clip is in place, all possable rattles insulated. The hours put into the interior so far would far exceed the value of the car.

Got the interior back in today, cleand and polished with my new "Megs Rich Leather", wow, that stuff is great the leather looks stunning. Also fitted steering wheel, radio and the seat belts. Will be a few day before the next update as I am back at work tomorrow, but should get the door jams polished and doors refitted on Monday or Tuesday.

May get the clock spring modified tomorrow before work, if so I will post pics of the mod so I can use it with the new steering wheel for the hooter. TC steering wheel.

Phil, the interior is spotless at the moment, I am well chuffed with the new carpet, has come up so well after the vac shampoe and vac, vac, vac. The seat also washed then treated with megs Rich Leather, they are in excellent condition anyway, but have come up like new with the treatment. Of course the whole interior was washed and vac'd a few times while stripped so is really clean. every nut bolt screw and clip is in place. Door also were done likewise and ready to be refitted lees windows but want to polish and wax the door jams before I fit them on Tuesday or Wednesday. Then need to get a window polishing kit so that I can polish the scratches out before refitting.

The body work, although washed has many marks and stains, so needs to be looked at which I will do, but that is going to be done properly by Marc as soon as it is through the MOT and back on the road.

Thanks for the comments, trully appreciated.

Modified the clock spring today so that my hooter wors again with the new steering wheel.

not much today, but then i was working till midnight, so snuck that bit in before work.

And if you thought i was alone in the workshop, i wasnt, my puddy tat, with an identity crisis, follows me arround like a dog. Every night she has been out there with me, watching everything I do.

how effective is the sound proofing proving to be?
I'm also thinking of doing some spring cleaning while the engine will be out (gotta do something).

Ploki, the car is still in the garage without doors, but just tapping on the door alone has made a huge difference, instead of the tinny sound it is not a dull thud, so has to be better. I will have the door back on later today, so will run the sound system and check, them post agin to let you know.

Car wont be on the road for a month or two as I have much more to do yet.

Shayne: what is that material anyway? I'm not sure what to use, i have some recycled cloth at home (quite dense) which is suppose to be good for isolation, surely, not as good as rock wool, but i dont want that shit in my car..
