Hi guys as some of you may know ive bought a 1.8 s reg F. however after a week or so of owning it the driveshaft popped out ruining the gearbox, as the bit the shaft goes into got mangled!!

Now ive looked high and low and cant find a box, for a reasonable price!just before i got this one i got a box for maisey with 50k on it for £100!
Will the 1.5 box go on?looks similar, not sure if itll fit though, although i have tried a 1.5 shaft on the 1.8 and it fitted :S.
Also the 1.8 use to be automatic so not sure what manual box is in it now the number on the box at the mo is....F5C7 if that helps?
i really need help urgently as i need it back on the road! anyone seen a F in a scrappy.....around or near northamptonshire, willing to travel if the price is right too.

The subject ive writeen isnt meant to offend anyone i just know some members like andym etc will have knowledge of all this.....

cheers guys

I am not sure mate, but check the motor out and see if it is the same as yours, DOHC, if so it should fit,

Only 1.8's prior to 1995 have the Gseries box... Where it said F5... it should read G5M...

The rest of the 1.8's are using the same gearbox as the 1.5's the F series box, which you
mentioned you already have as you stated the F5 bit...

So just get a box out of any 1.8 or 1.5 FBA and your good! Maybee do the clutch while your
at it... :)

yup, the 1.8 uses a 200mm clutch where the 1.5 uses a 190mm clutch.
