can i just use a feed from the courtesy lights

i want to fit some led strips in the rear for when the doors are opened

LEDs dont have much resistance so personally i would of thought that would be ok but wait for one of the electrical specialists on here to confirm

I didn't use a fuse with mine, if it shorts out somewhere the room fuse should blow anyway, assuming you're using that for the positive feed. The courtesy light is negative switched, so get a positive from somewhere, then just need a connection to the door switch wiring. By the fusebox in the drivers footwell I think its the pink and white wire. If no one else answers confirming that tonight I'll try and remember to check tomorrow

got a load of led strips of ebay that i want to find a use for, so just throwing ideas around

i have leds strips underneath my doors. just connected them up to the courtersy lights.

It's not really the resistance through the LEDs (or the lack of it) but it's the fact that they do not draw much current...so the wire to them only needs to be thin, they don't need a big fuse rating, and can be added without doing any harm to your existing circuit

I have hundreds, literally hundreds, in the interior and under the bonnet

thin wiring is the key then

I'd use the small black stuff, easier to hide

Bugsy, you say you've LED strips under the door? Whereabouts? Is that on the bottom face that faces the tarmac? Is there sufficient space when the door shuts? Too many questions, but thats what I had in mind!

well mine are fitted under the doors, so they shine on the floor when opened

and under the kick plates so it lights up the foot well, but this will be changed to under the front seats

and i will be running new wiring through as i have made a complete balls of it, but thats just to keep it tidy

I need to redo mine as well, taken most out for now when I got in a tizzy with the state of my wiring. Once it gets warmer I'll make a better job if it.
