Just recieved some flutes this morning, and am just wondering whether I will need to drill the holes on the underside of the car to fix them, or whether they are already there on an R reg Executive?

Don't use Tiger Seal, its nasty and only come in metal tubes which split wasting most of the stuff I've got TWO knackered tubes in the garage to prove it :p

I used Evo Stick Wet Grab, which is SO strong you can actually stick stuff together underwater with it, perfect for side skirts that get doused in water every time it rains :D Plus it comes in a strong plastic tube!

Hughies right though, there ARE holes already there for the flutes, however, they are only for the rectangular clips along the inside edge, for some reason the 1.5/1.8 sills have these holes but not the outside edge holes, makes no sense :S What I did was remove the three plastic covers from the sill, then, run a small bead of Wet Grab around the INSIDE of the rubber seal, clip it in place carefully, press firmly to get the outside edge to stick and while holding it firmly in place with your hand, put three or four strips of masking tape across it to hold it inplace while the silicon sets, there is also a bolt hole at the back that I used a nice flash stainless allen bolt in :thumbright:

I've got some pictures of my install on my other PC if you need them :)

Thanks Hughie and Andy, I'll stick them on then :D

And yes please Andy, if you could upload them, I'll stick them on one night after work on the ramp just to make it easier getting underneath :D

They're quite simple to fix properly (ie mechanically fixed). The three long plastic fixings simply need to inserted into the holes on the underside of the car. (where the black plastic covers currently are) Clip the two circular fixings into the flutes, put a bit of Blu tack on the ends of the two fixings and dab a bit of paint (to contrast with the vehicle paint colour) onto the ends of the two fixings. Then offer the assembly into position carefully aligning all the holes. The paint will transfer onto the car in precisely the right point and thats where you drill the two holes. Put a bit of paint or sealant onto the bare metal (where you have drilled the holes) so they don't rust and pop in the round fixings. Slide the flue into position from the rear (ie away from the rear wheels) onto the round fixing making sure they click into place and hold. Then screw the bottom ones in securely and using an M6 stainless steel coach bolt, washer and nut to fix the back end into the wheel arch. Repeat for other side. Its just about having the nerve to drill a hole or 4 (max)!! - You know it makes sense - this is the way they were meant to be fitted.

Looking forward to seeing them blue :thumbright:

MR O - I mostly didn't do it that way because I HATE drilling holes in my car, plus I decided it wasn't worth the rust risk ;)
