Only a small bit of rust, mostly flakey paint. Not sure wether to spray it black or get it polished up

I'm tempted to do mine another colour but I'm just going to make it a very nicely polished black, you thinking of colour coding anything under the bonnet? If so could do something with that?

To be honest im pretty much in the vein of keeping things original. Prefer the more street sleeper look. Although the slam panel would look good plated. Debz gave the engine a good clean for me last week, she done an amazing job, clean and tidy under the bonnet, thats good enough for me. Mot next friday then get ready for JAE if it passes. The wheels need a refurb but cant afford it before JAE and would like to drop it 40mm. The intake pipe needs replacing but unsure wether to keep it original or have a bit of stainless under the bonnet.

well I think of it thids way standard it looks good and if you give it a good respray and a polish it'll look practically brand new (that's what I'm hoping with mine anyway).

Polished would look good too though, it's a tough one.

I'm leaving lowering for now, I know I'll probably drive it for a month and find out I need new shocks as well. And you going for a full on refurb, stripped back and all that jazz?

If I can find a cheap set of wheels to use while mine are being done. Was thinking of giving it a go myself, funds permitting as we have two young sons and a lack of disposable cash.
Considering the car only cost £50 I dont think shes scrubbing up to bad.

I'd say polished looks best, but it's a b*tch to maintain - if there is a river, pond or small puddle within 50 miles, it starts to rust again

Paul, I reckon you should just sand it smooth and paint it Chaste white to match the car - would give a real clean look to the front end under the hood!

Yeah considered that too, I'll have another think, I've even considered red (as that's probably the colour Im going for in the engine bay).

And I assume you can't close your bonnet properly without a slam panel then? So I have to get it done pretty quick...

You can shut the bonnet but the slam panel holds the radiator so don't drive it without it on

If you must drive without it, you could cable tie the rad in place I guess

Choose a weekend when you've got nothing planned, take it off Saturday morn, sand it, prime it, paint it saturday evening, lacquer it sunday morning, fit it sunday afternoon
