Hi All - I am new to the Mazda experience and I have a Premacy Sport - I know its not a 323 but I have been told it has the same 2.0L Engine as your BJ model and as I cant find any Info on the Premacy I'm hoping you guys may be able to help???
I have an eratic tickover (Misfire) - I have taken it to Mazda and they are having no luck finding the problem..
There are no fault codes reported and when I took it to the main dealer and they ran a diagnostic test they came back with a faulty CAT and both oxygen sensors - I have changed both sensors and the fault is better but still there. I have been looking at many forums and am looking for any additional info - The timing has been checked by the dealer 3 times and they say its O.K - I found a posting on another forum about the Camshaft position sensor - but not checked it out as yet - Can anyone throw suggestions as to what it could be please...

Welcome, the premacy has the same engine as the 323f sport :thumbright:
A misfire is normally down to the coil packs but I suspect the dealer would have checked these as they are a common problem.
I also would think the camshaft sensor would throw up a code :dontknow: One little trick we have found for sorting out some running problems ( the dealerships dont know about it) is to clean the Maf sensor. There should be a few posts floating around about it.

Many thanks for your reply - i will check out some MAF cleaning posts - There was a suspect Coil Pack as there seemed to be a breakdown on the short lead to the plug but the dealer not tested it as far as I know - Its going back in on wednesday so will ask them to test. I replaced the MAF with a second hand one But it wasnt tested but it didnt make any change to the running so either its faulty as well or they are both working but I will try the clean anyway - Thank for your post - Does the 323f sport also only have 2 coil packs feeding 2 plugs?

yes, have a look at www.fordprobestore.co.uk for the packs, much much cheaper that mazda ( if you end up needing them) I would clan the MAF anyway as its cost free and DIY ;) - but if youve changed them and its the same then its probably not this anyway.

Strange they didnt test or suspect the coilpacks as when they break down they can cause cat problems...

I wish you hadnt said that - The last visit Mazda said i needed a Cat & both o2 sensors - I went to longlife to get the cat changed and they said which one - Mazda told me there was only one initially - Turns out there are 2 - the first on fixed to the downpipe with sensors Pre & Post Cat and a second traditonal Cat further down the system - I have changed the Precat sensor and Longlife said the Cat is probably not damaged as so rattles ? - Mazda is changing the Post Cat os sensor on wednesday - I hope its not the CAT as £589 + vat & fitting - thanks for the website , not heard of them , great to know..

If you need the first cat then it might be worth shouting about it in our wanted section, as a few of us have them lying about.
I have one in my attic, as I've fitted an OBX stainless manifold to mine.
