Here is a couple of progress photos

mate there are some things you have to give attention
first is that rust on the wheel arch
less important but something that would give a nice effect is buy a can of black paint and spray door handlers and wiper blade arms
plate holder and door strips you can paint too or just take them off

Aww that rust annoys me! I am not confident enough to tackle it yet but it will be done! Practising a bit more with painting the flutes and other parts!

Great idea about the handles etc, that will be getting done. What is the best paint to use though?

Also following on from the progress photos here is everything i have to get done. My car is in the garage just now getting track rod end done so i am just waiting for a decent day to start trying out things before i decided what its going to look like:

I have set myself a monthly budget and will keep this budget right up to Japfest, I JUST REALLY REALLY need a few days which are dry and warm so i can start all of this as i have no access to any where sheltered or out of the elements. My sat-nav is the most expensive thing bought so far at £70 2nd hand. Next few months are alloys, brake disks, tackle the rust/engine bay and get everything that is greyish sun damaged back to a NICE balck.

Its hard to believe this car was standard and broken in November. Will keep you all updated.

First dry day in ages, finally some progress.

PHOTO1: This is my new import style number plate. I GOT IT A BIT SQUINT I KNOW, its about 3 millimetres out on one side! The old one was taken off and there were some unfortunate scratches left underneath the old black plate holder so a bit of rubbing compound fixed the little scratches and i will get some touch up paint and get the bigger bits!!

PHOTO2: Installed my sat nav on the right hand side of the steering wheel with the power cable hidden as you can see. Also note i have fitted my new foglight swicht but i dont have the yellow connector (see wanted section) I bought the satnav for the JAPFEST and unfortunately it has put my alloys on hold.

PHOTO3: Whacked my flutes on with some no more nails and 1 x cable tie. I KNOW that there is still some white "no more nails" still visible but i am waiting 24hrs for it to fully bond before removing the excess.

Finally some progress, will try to get my EBC brakes and my calipers/drums painted before Sunday!!!

Done mate!!! The photo was taken about 30 minutes after they were put on so i left it until half four and cleaned them!! They are on solid now!

but i see that you have 2 rear fog switches in your dash?
do you use one for the front fog's and one for the rear?
and does a rear fog switch fit on the front fog connector? (including indicator on the dash)

Hi Patrick, thanks mate! To answer your question the one on the left is for the front foglights and the one on the right is for the single rear foglight. The switch fits in with a small amount of modification, see this guide for all of the information!!

Only thing I would have done different is fit the front plate a bit lower...

As for the door handles, a wipe with some back to black will sort out the fade.

Thanks for the comments and advice! I think the number plate will only be on until the MOT as all of the garages around here are real gits then i will put the old one on for the MOT and put it back on lower AND straighter

Good work buddy BUT (always a but with me ) I would have positioned the plate lower down so the top of the plate is in line with the top of the bumper.

Got these bad boys today H3 (koito) 8000k and i will post up a long needed guide once i have fitted them! Only £41.50 delivered and they threw in a set of magnified ultra bright 501's. Nice little fellows!

We did have Murray's Hid guide
but the pics dont seem to work any more (they were for h1's, but there isnt that much difference )

didnt know there was a guide. Thanx matt. I hooked one of them up today, 5 minute job just to see the difference and to be honest it looked exactly the same. Have both of them to be done to notice the difference??? I switched them on in daylight so presumably this was the problem.

Tell you what though, those 501's i put in that they gave me for free were amazing. Just a wee tad brighter but they are crystal white and make an AMAZING difference. No yellow at all, i will show you before and after pics!

I've said this before but I remember stevo_b making a HID fitment guide for the Koito (H3) type headlights too a while ago, but cant find it now

Fitted the H.I.D's about an hour ago, i will take photos tonight when it is darker. It was simple to do, i didnt even need to drill the plastic covers, i just used a pair of pliers and expanded the hole and filed down the edges. I didnt bother hiding the ballasts. Only had under an hour cos the missus needed the car for work. Also i never knew that there would be a tiny bit of sound when the HIDs are on. Its olnly noticeable when the the bonnet is up. Read this in the instructions!!!!

Also i spent £35 quid on the car in the garage as i got the old power steering belt changed by a family friend and he bent the pulleys and rounded all of the nuts. I paid a visit to the scrap yard and got all of the bolts and a spare pulley to give to the garage to get it fixed right this time. Unfortunately the power steering pump might need re-newed but it is not urgent.

Thanks pal, it would have been massively more expensive if i didnt get the parts myself. Probably over the £150 mark.

After a long drive in the new H.I.D's i have to say they are AMAZING. I didnt even think they would be as good as they were. This should be the first MOD anyone does, it looks good but you dont realise how crap your headlights are until you have tried these, and they are so much safer.

As always the pics dont do the mod justice.




These are the new 501's, they match the H.I.D's perfectly however the photo doesnt do them justice.

Nice work Steve, looking good. Wait until you see how far away reflective stuff lights up like road signs light up with the HIDs. They really are one of the best mods for our crappy BA headlights

ok taken two steps back, the HIDs one of em is flickering so got a paypal dispute, the flutes fell off, so gonna use the proper tiger seal this time instead of no more nails, however painted the calipers and drums silver.

Gotta admit i am not liking the colour but i thought i would try to see first as i am getting 2nd hand 17" alloys next few weeks.

I have kawasaki green and black caliper paint so might change it. It is definately an improvement.

i like the silver steve! especially on the back hubs looks good in my opinion.

I prefer them black...
