Here's my intake. I didn't realise the original was a 1.5 so I just ordered those sizes! I forces my coupler to fit to the MAF and it all looks good!



The thing i want to know is does any other 1.8 owner have trouble with the 90 degree bend from the throttle body has to be forced around the battery. I don't have a grinder to shorten my bend!

mate just used a hacksaw to cut it down. will take a bit longer but it'll still do the job

found this on the bay of e, anyone think it could help wit the problem of finding the right angles etc

That's basically just a 90 and a 45 connected together. Just buy the pipes and a hacksaw!

yeah but it comes in individual pieces with couplers so no need to buy all the bits seperate. thats what i meaning.

to save you cutting metal pipes down, just rim the rubber hoses?

to get a straight edge pop it over a straight bit of pipe!

then with a lighter tidy up the strands!

Some of the pipes can require quite a bit chopping off. Just shortening the coupler isn't sufficient.

I have tat pipe which some do and some dont....and i'm just wondering....how do you connect it up when you do this mod? I also need to do the same with a pipe from my oil catch tank

Also....is the 63mm internal or outer diameter?

cut a hole in one of the connectors - cut the pipe so that you have a lip around the bit of pipe from the large tube then seal that into the connector....then connect the big pipe to this and the engine block - you can lose that resonator rubbish i believe

recommend trying to hide it on the underside


just run the pipe from the block to the catch tank - miss out the intake pipe altogther and put a breather filter on the catch tank

Alex - if you take a look at the pic of mine you can see where the idle breather is joined to the induction kit (on the front - that was just where the natural shape of the stock pipe took it) and the plumbing for the crankcase breather.

ah ok i see....but what do you do? just pierce a smallish hole and then force it in?

Also where an earth do you mount it...maylander said you mount the kit to the gearbox mount....but where on the induction do you mount it?

Anywhere's that's handy! If you look at my pic again you'll see a jubilee clip in the middle of the 45deg pipe which doesn't seem to be doing anything - that's attaching the pipe to the bracket.

With mine being so long I've also got some bungee's around the end of it in the wing so that it can move around a bit but still spring back into position.


Re the idle intake, I cut a round hole in the coupler and jammed the 90deg plastic pipe from the original flexi-pipe in there. Sealed up with some sealant paste to be on the safe side.

ah i see....but how do you attach a bracket to a jubilee....sorry its a bit hard to uderstand...and am I right about the sensor hoses?

1) Have the metal bracket shaped so that it's next to the pipe.
2) Put the jubilee clip around the bracket and the pipe so it holds the two together.

The idle breather hose just needs to be attached somewhere between the throttle body and the MAF. If you're feeling ambitious you could get a take-off pipe and fit it to one of the solid sections or you could just jam it into one of the couplers.

ah right i see....now to find something to make a bracket....


i was thinking of buying a T-piece but they're like £30 each

I know, that's why I went with a knife and some gasket paste instead.

ah so if i just shove some gasket paste on the pipe before i stick it in



i might buy one of those t connector plug thingys maybe?

Oil breather, its usually connected to the standard intake pipe.

I got mine from eBay. You will need a 9mm though for it to fit snug on that little breather pipe.

You can also get them from car shows for a few pounds.

I think mine was under a fiver.

I've some problems to understand well how we have to connect both hoses coming from the engine to the plastic pipe.

Is there anybody to make me a quick sketch of all the connections and the stuffs needed?

My english is poor so I ask for your help.

Normally i need:
1x 90° pipe (is stainless steel better than chrome plated steel?) diam 60mm
1x 45° pipe diam 60mm
3x silicon coupler diam 60mm

I tried to find how to fit the temp sensor, but the wire is very short and I don't really know how to avoid air leaking if i drill the steel pipe.
For the two little oil hoses, i don't know how to re fit them

I knoww that this is a mass of questions ...

1stly, the temp sensor. Best bet for this is to poke a hole in one of the silicon couplers, jam it in then put a spot of sealant on.

2ndly, the little pipe that comes from the rocker cover (top of the engine) - get rid of this completely and put a little filter on it. (the small blue hose coming from the engine is where little filter would go. I've got the hose going to an oil catch tank and then to the filter)

3rdly, the bigger pipe that goes into the throttle body - again, make a hole in one of the silicon couplers and fit it in there with some sealant. If you can get the plastic 90degree bend that it attaches to on the original flexible pipe out then use that. Most people hide this behind the intake but mine is in front: (look at the black pipe coming out from behind the 90degree metal bend.

to answer your other question - I'd go for stainless steel over chromed everytime. Or aluminium, it's lighter

In the picture below, where/how is the air temp sensor fitted ?


Does the air temp sensor need to be fitted in the system or can it be left outside/on the outside/unplugged ?

That picture is a 1.8 - they have the sensor inside the MAF.

You do need the temp sensor. Just poke a hole in a convenient silicon coupler and poke it through. Put a spot of silicon sealer on the back to hold it and seal the hole.

alright guys ...wat the hell is the andym intake sytem ive been readin this thing forever and still havnt found out lol... Definatly ordering these parts it will setmy engine of a treat.. altho thinking about a 90 degree and a straight pipe just cut to size..then i wil be able to c my induction kit properly...

I have put a little filtre but the engine stops after 2 seconds runing ... So if I undertand well, this is not an output but a sort of air entry
