In general, longer distance from the throttle body to filter will give more torque & less power. Shorter distances will give the opposite.

I really like the difference in driving it now. It runs out of steam more quickly at the top end but the torque makes it much more fun, even when driving fairly gently.

Bends are 90, 45, 90 in that order.

Most couplers are 63mm but needed a 63-72mm to go onto the throttle body side of the MAF and another to go onto the filer.

alex wait til your driving and you'll realize you don't get to use the top end power much, well not if you want to keep your licence. if your going to take it on the track you can alway reduce the length of the pipe while your doing the rest of your pretrack adjustments.

yeh good idea.....i may go on a track at show occasionally.....but would be embarassed if i drove shit lol(although my mum says i'm a good driver ^o) )

would be a good idea to wait till then before buying the stuff as i need plug s and leads now

just wondering what would be a good distance for more torque than standard but nt topping out too soon....probably just like the original stephens intake?

thats why i removed my mahoosive decat, it was becoming such a pain to enjoy it daily driving, you had to rev it so bloody much to move off at a decent pace

just route it to cold air alex, a shorter pipe within the engine bay gave me loads of noise and sluggish as f@@k, i made a longer one routed to cold air outside the engine bay and blamo, excellent!

shorter apparently gives you a snappier throttle response but i didn't notice it, it was just sh@t, so bad that if it stayed like that i would have been tempted to sell

the place i know that works well is the engine undertray vent, thats where mine is others that ive heard that work really well is the andym style intake

well i'm thinking of having my standard box with a k and n filter with the andym bumper intake. i want to replace the rubber hose to the tb with some shiney pipe. don't know if it will have any performance effects but it'll look better lol

There was a torque improvement with the standard Stephen's but not nearly as much as my new setup.

I really like it. It's a struggle to break 100 but I never do that anyway. On the other hand, even shifting a 4K I get a surge of power with each gear.

Anyone got the one for a V6? Are the pipe/coupler sizes the same for a V6? I'm keen to keep the standard airbox and fit a pipe between the MAF and TB and an AndyM CAF

scott whats the mid range like with your set up. 30mph up to 60mph. thats where i usually find i need a little bit of a kick. as you said you don't really need it up around the ton marker.

The mid-range is good and you don't have to be revving it hard to enjoy it. The biggest difference is the very bottom end - driving in heavy traffic is much easier now.

nice setup fella, just one reason why I wouldn't copy it........water, i remember last year at jae cars sucking up water

that would be fine for a dry day, but a problem when it rains.

you might be able to get a water filter or something though

It's got two mushrooms at the end. One is directly behind the AndyM, the other is screened off. If the first one gets wet then it'll be harder to pull through and it'll suck through the dry one.

I've been running this since Jan and done about 7000 miles in that time and it's been fine.

I have been considering a hydro-lock joint and possibly a a little powered flap behind the AndyM....

i wouldn't worry about water on that setup unless your trying to drive through a ford or something

you ain't seen how low mine is and ive had a similar setup to it for around 10-12k miles rain and shine

i get nervous when it rains :clown:

you can see it in this photo, look at the back right wheel (your right) the black circle is it, its hard to see unless you save it to your computer and zoom in

The CAF being down there is best but not the actuall air filter.
Wouldn;t the filter get filthy with all the muck from the road?

Underneath, yes it would get dirty in no time.

Inside the wing, set well back from the port in the bumper - not so much. I've had mine in for five months now and it's going to need cleaned shortly.

Behind the bumper where you have it is a sound place for it

not at all, the intake was designed by a 1.5 owner, he shared the info...

the 1.8 owners realised the difference in the intakes, did some measurements and ordered the relevant parts that they required to do it themselves also....

it's just upto the V6 owners to now do the same......:thumbright:

tbh id be inclined to maybe look into some rubber couplers from ebay, maybe keep your costs down a bit

Same place I get everything... eBay!

Don't worry about a couple of mm, silicon couplers are quite stretchy. The 70'll be fine.
