Need to know the answer today. Anybody please.

Does the Escort GT 1.8L header fits BA 1.8DOHC ?
the parameters of Escort GT 1.8 header:

Escort GT 91-96 1.8L
Tubing Dia. 1-5/8"
Collector Dia. 2-1/4"

Flanged Collector
Hook-ups for smog & engine management sensors
Comes with header extension to connect to stock system. Fabrication may be required

Are you talking about the American spec Escort or the European spec?
I'm presuming the European, considering your from Lithuania.....
If so then I'd say no, the Euro Escort has a Ford Zetec engine, completely different from the USA Escort with the Mazda lump.
Maybe try the Austrailian Ford Laser. They also had a Mazda lump.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong please....

That's a good question :). But I'm pretty sure it's an american Escort couse Pacesetter makes headers for them, and they told me they make only for American cars so I guess it's American Escort.

I found this on Wikipedia:

Quote:
BP
The 1.8 L (1,839 cc) BP is a dual-overhead variant of the B8. It was first found in the 1989 Mazda Familia and American-market 1990 Mazda Protege LX. This engine was dubbed BP-ZE and featured a forged crankshaft, piston oil squirters, an aluminum baffled oil pan, and VICS. This particular variant can be found in the following vehicles:

1989-1994 Mazda Familia GT (European & Australian Market)
1989-1994 Ford Laser TX3 (Australian Market)
1990-1994 Mazda Protege LX (with VICS)
1990-1994 Mazda Protege GT (Canadian Market)
1990-1993 Mazda 323 (European Market)
1992-1993 Ford Escort LX-E
1991-1996 Ford Escort GT
1991-1996 Mercury Tracer LTS
1994-1997 Kia Sephia GS
1994-1998 Mazda Familia (Japanese Market)
1994-1997 Mazda MX-5/Miata (this did not have VICS until 1999)
There is also a non-performance version that is most easily recognized by its black stamped-steel oil pan. It also features a cast crankshaft, no oil squirters, a plastic oil pickup tube and less aggressive camshafts. It is found in the 1995-1998 Mazda Protege ES.

Does this means that Escort and BA has the same (almost the same?) engine, and the header fits?

here's another find (it's from the link that someone posted on this forum. http://web2.airmail.net/theman/protegef ... scortparts):

Quote:
Is it true that I can use Ford Escort parts to hot-rod my Protegé?
Yes! The 1991-1996 Ford Escort GT, Escort LXE, and Mercury Tracer LTS share the 1.8L DOHC BP engine with the 1990-1998 Protegé 1.8L DOHC. The suspension of these cars is basically similar to the 1990-1994 BG Protegé. Most engine and chassis parts are fully interchangeable.
The 1997+ Ford Escort still shares the same basic suspension layout with the BG Protegé, and most parts are directly interchangeable. However, the newer DOHC Escorts, including the ZX2 and "Sport" sedan, use the Ford Zetec 2.0L powerplant, so engine parts will no longer interchange.
European 323 owners should note that the car sold in North America as the Escort has nothing in common with the European Escort. I am not sure if any Euro Escort parts will interchange with any Protegé or 323.

ok so Mazda Protege ~ Escort. Now, as I understand Mazda Protege is the same Mazda 323F only it's called Protege in America, right or not?

Don't think the BA 323F was ever labelled as Protege... BA never came out in the US. Some other 323 models did tho

Yes the american Escort has the BP 05 engine.
So I'd imagine the headers will fit no problem.

Here's a c/p from the mail I sent

Quote:
I found information that the engine found in the Escort GT 91-96 is the same one found in Mazda Protege manufanctured in the same period.
I'm interested in purchasing the header with number 70-1166 for my Mazda, but I want to be sure it will fit.
Can you send me some pictures of the header, especially the part where it bolts on to the engine, so I can make sure that it's the same.

Thank you in advance and best regards

And the reply

Quote:
hello , if you have the 1.8 dohc motor then yes it is the same .

Sit on my face, and tell me that you love me.
I'll sit on your face and tell you I love you, too.
I love to hear you oralize,
When I'm between your thighs;
You blow me away!

Sit on my face and let my lips embrace you.
I'll sit on your face and let my love be truly.
Life can be fine if we both sixty-nine,
And we'll sit on our faces in all sorts of places and play,
'Till we're blown away!

:thumbright:

How much did the shipping cost you ? By what did it come (airplane, boat) ? And exactly how long have you waited since you made the purchase ?

Thnx

He suggested me:
Airmail Parcel Post 4 - 10 Days $74.55
Economy (Surface) Parcel Post 4 - 6 Weeks $62.15

I chose Airmail, he sent it after 3 days of purchase and I got it after 3 weeks. But actually it didn't matter to me, so I left a very good feedback. Mind that I live in Lithuania.

We're neighbours if you draw a straight line on the map ;)
You bought directly from Pacesetters or over eBay ? If over eBay from which seller, if you could provide me a link.

Sorry if I ask a lot of questions, but my uncle doesnt know anything at all about cars.

Thnx!

no problem, I bought it from ebay from seller azraceplace, but as I understood he is a distributor of pacesetter of some kind, cause there where guarantees, and other official pacesetter papers. I bouht it twice cheeper then from pacesetter directly (item totally new).

Not for the 1.8 BP.
I read a test, forgot where on the net, where they tested 4-2-1 vs 4-1 on MX-5 (the same motor).
End result - 4-1 gave about 4-5HP more than 4-2-1.

@Murray - What engine iz Z5 ? I'm unformiliar with the marking...
@Lantis-Dio - Lantis = 323F (BA) = Ford Escort GT (USA market) = 1840cc DOHC BP engine;
Also there are a few more car models that use the same engine in the same configuration and that same engine, but rotated 90 degrees, is in MX-5 (Miata).

edit:
@L-D - Use Google, Google is your friend ;)
PS price iz 249$ and you can find the same on eBay for ~170$

The Z5 is the 1.5 engine :D

I've done VERY extensive research into headers for it, none are made, by anyone, you have tyo have custom made ones if you want them, but, having swapped my series 1 manifold which had a CAT in it, to a series 2 which is a very well designed 4-2-1 cast iron manifold with equal header length and nice smooth bends, there seems little point in my opinion. :D
