Because Meguiars have a product for everything, here's my recomendations for products to use at each stage.........

1 WASH - Soft Wash Gel or NXT Car Wash or Gold Class Car wash shampoo and conditioner.

2 Clean / Prep - Quik Clay Detailing System + STEP 1 - Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner + Scratch X

3 Polish STEP 2 – Deep Crystal Polish

4 Protect NXT Tech Wax or Gold Class Clear Coat Liquid Wax

5 Maintain Quik Detailer: Mist and Wipe or NXT Speed Detailer

If you choose Gold Class products - try and use them at each stage.
Same goes for NXT products.

Wheel Care - Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner

Tyre Care - Hot Shine Tyre Dressing

Metalwork - NXT All Metal Polysh

Glass - NXT Glass Cleaner

Just out of interest, did anyone manage to get video footage of when JPs car was being Meguiar'ed with the full treatment? If so, any chance of getting access to them? Sorry, my memory is really crap

whats this two bucket method all about?

I'm sure they'd be ok, I've built up a good relationship with the guys there...... And watch this space, they're on with using some of our pictures in their next newsletter!

Right - you use one bucket of water for washing the car (with Meguiars shampoo!) and another clean bucket of water for cleaning your wash mitt, before dipping it back into the shampoo - and wahing your car.

This prevents you rubbing dirt back into your paintwork and scratching your car.

Another methos is to buy a Meguiars Grit Guard Bucket. It has a grill in the bottom of the bucket which allows dirt to drip to the bottom of the bucket and therefore shouldn't go back onto your wash mitt each time you go back to the car. The idea is you brush your mitt on the guard in the bottom of the bucket each time you go back to the bucket - getting any grit out of your mitt before you go back to the car.

From what I remember, I think its when u gently rub a clean towel or something on your car - if you get a squeak, then your car needs a wax/polish . I'll leave it to the experts to give you more details and/or correct me if I'm wrong

I think it's simpler than that - think back to when you're washing up

Just run a finger firmly on the paintwork, if it squeeks you need to wax.

can you give some advice on applicators and cloths for each stage please rich - i'm well confused on what to use for each stage at the mo

Just use a different foam applicator pad (which are washable) for each product.

Then wipe away the products using such as their microfible polishing cloths - I again using a different one for each product.

Or you could try the towel pads, bought some at the meet, very good, better than the pads in my opinion

And I two bucketed the other day for the first time, amazing results, the suds bucket was still crystal clear at the end whereas the rinse bucket was a nasty dirty brown glad all that crap hadn't been put righ tback on the car :D:D

Did the towel test too and was amazed to find it needed no wax, last time i did it was before JAE :D

Do you use the same pad and micorfibre each time (if so how do you tell them apart??)

are the drying cloths any good - or is a microfibre ok??

i cant remember how to wash the pads and cloths - was it just a hot rinse in the machine??

Also, where does the bug and tar fall into the procedure??

It helps to use the same pad / microfibre per product - I tell them apart by keeping the pad next to the product......

A microfibre is for wiping away product, not water. The Drying Cloths are ace.

Wash pads and cloths as 'normal', just don't use fabric conditioner.
Use a cotton 'boil wash' when you your drying cloths performance waines - it may have silicone on it which the boil wash will remove.

Use the bug and tar remover when you've got bugs and tar on your car! I generally top the finish off with some more Tech Wax afterwards.

I may be bringing this topic up again, but reading through it, it tells of the finger test to know when to wipe off the wax.

Is that the same as the squeak test? (if you can remember)

You just wait till the wax goes white looking then if you run your finger through it and there is no residue,
Then it is time to remove it !!! Thats if I remember rightly

The squeek test was to determine wether you needed to wax or not...
