Hello all!

Just fitted my universal filter to my v6 sorted out a bracket etc for it, and also moved the cluster of pipes and solenoids. question is what is the point of the pipe going into the air box cos at the moment its just open to the air is that ok?

If you ment the pipe running to the front of the car its because you want cold air coming into it instead of the warm air from your engine bay for it to work properly.

yup you need to put that back into the filter :P ... do a search on it, its been covered many times in the past.. if you havent got a hole for it in your filter then you will need to make one..

stuv6,

Not sure what pipe you mean? If its the one with a pointy bit at the end that was inserted into the air box then thats the air temperature sensor.

This detects the amount of air coming into the engine and allows the ECU to decide on things like air:mixture and whether you have a boy or a girl....

So yeah, tis important! All you need to do is drill a small hole at the top of the induction kit (like on the metal bit) and insert the pipe into it :D

You might find that you could lose performance and economy by leaving it out.

Hope this helps?

Cheers,
Sean

The v6 doesnt have the temperature sensor (from what i can see)just a vacuum pipe but am going to drill a hole for this anyway think it must be the 1.5 and 1.8 which have the sensor. Am off to get a cold feed today just to top the conversion off!

just loving the sound too!
