Do you stick a KLZE 2.5LV6 in it

or

What can you do to a 2.0 V6 to increase performance for £1,000

Answers please with realistic results if possible

how about a cheap turbo? A T3? , intercooler and plumbing? u woul dneed a header tho maybe more than 1k, how much are the KL from gav?

Its not the cost of the KL thats the problem they cheap as chips ... its the delivery its as mucha s the cost itself

Prob with Turbooing is I would need a remappable ECU or Dastek or similar ... that alone is gonna be £500 - then the cost of the Turbo .. ??? dunno price and peripherals .. then the manifold am probably looking at another £400 to £500

What's the condition of your engine?

How much extra power will the extra 500cc give you?

KLZE 2.5L is 200BHP
KLDE 2.0L V6 is 147 ish

so you looking at 50BHP - maybe less to start with as standard V6 ECU will be used, maybe

I thought the KL was 210 Dan

spend £400 on a decent ECU and ull prob get an extra 70 -75 bhp increase through this engine

How much money could you get for your V6? thought about a BPT or BPD?

dunno - the ones I been looking at have said 200BHP - but that may well be because it was Auto gearbox ... like Tasha 160BHP against the normal Type R of 170BHP

I still deciding best route tho - may have to do it sooner rather than later lol .. I nearly buggered my green one this morning.. will explain in new post lol

id keep the engine and get new ECU, lighten flywheel, Clutch, cams and gaskets, to increase compression

Dan, if the swap is fairly straight forward it seems you'll get better gains from that. If you've got the time and money, you could have the heads gas flowed etc while the engine is out. Assuming a 10% power increase, you could be looking at 230+ bhp. Tempted? Don't know if this is do-able within your budget - depends on how much you do yourself I guess. If there could be spare budget, you could have the camshafts 'fettled' for another hike in power. Who knows, with a tweaked intake manifold and a stainless performance exhaust manifold, you might reach 250bhp - if not, it's bound to be do-able with an ECU tweak

id find a company with a flowbench and invest your 1k in camshafts and cylinder work inlcuding. dont know how much money will be left. not enough for a remappable ecu+setup im afraid.

but at least u have the internals pretty much sorted out and shouldve reached 180bhp

There is one thing that noone has mentioned yet tho - which for me is a Big factor ...

The engine thats currently in it has done 90k miles

The KLZE will have done way less thean 50K Kilometers

So that again is a big factor, notwithstanding the 2.0 is currently broken lol.. Head gasket me thinks.

Tell me about it. The bottom end had to come out of the 'new' engine for piston bore to be rehoned - think what I could have had done while that was apart!! Lottery numbers didn't come

Hi you’ll need more than 1000 k sorry am just realistic.

I used around 1900 and I have done almost everything myself but am calculating to use 300-400 more to reprogramme the ecu.I just paid 300 for garage and my friend helped me a little that’s it for manpower rest are parts. Trust me when you swap there are a lot of unforeseen costs and that adds up.

And still headers are not mounted on it only has 180'ish and my custom made exhaust 2.5" it’s on the way and it costs close the price of the engine.

But you could start slow get 5 major parts first and when you get more money you can get the 30 extra hp out of it. Still these 5 things will cost you more then 1000k when installed in the car

Engine
ECU
VAF meter from MX3 or (JDM) JE50
Clutch (that can handle the power stage 2)
Timing belt/tensioner etc..


And don’t forget to calculate all the small things like fluids/sparkplugs/Oils etc it ads up...

Not too worried about the ECU at the moment - I can get one sorted, with any luck. VAF meter - got one on order.

Not too worried about the power just for now - basic idea is to get the engine and get it in and running this year - then funds will allow for the extras next year to pump up that BHP

All the work will be done by me - so no labour costs - maybe have to buy my mate the mechanic a few beers if I run into troubles tho lol

Sounds right but still more than 1000 you'll see .Don't forget timing belt, all 3 new wheels, waterpump, other belts, fluids etc. That’s alone costs like 200 minimum...

You MUST get a new clutch the old one will break after short time. Look after an Centerforce or Clutch Masters it’s stupid to drive for some days and have to take it apart again to change the clutch.

Where will you get the engine from?/price? What does it cost to ship and don't forget VAT.

Im not up to ruin your plans, but just trying to help you, my car was in garage for an mounth due to broken sensors that had to be ordered and replaced.

Had to take it to Mazda to hook it up to computer and se what’s up and that made a big hole in my wallet.

I just got new transmission with LSD last weekend... exhaust is ordered sadly I had to pay about 460 pounds I still want to cry

The engine is in the car now. When the engine was tweaked (without shutting of when idling I drove it and it kicks nice.... when you get over 4000 rpm.

It achieves speeds from 150 kmh to 230 much faster.

But in low revs it feels like the old 2.0 standard exhaust is choking the engine.

When all is done ill post pictures maybe a video. And i did make a guide

I'm not surprised at your indifference at low revs.

I've seen dyno results of a car with KL-DE and then KL-ZE test and the bhp curves were close (with KL-ZE winning) until around 5000 and the KL-ZE totally blitzed the KL-DE for bhp

Yes I was afraid that I got a crappy engine. It was the same around 4000-5000 rpm it slams you into the seat...
