Hi all was thinking about getting an after marker steering wheel

how easy is it to replace and kill the airbag light?

One like this or a deep dished one

Just fit a resistor in betwee that matches the resistance of the airbag itself. I believe there is how-to here somewhere that states which one you need. Search function will do the job I suppose :D

I'm sure there is a guide somewhere, but yeah it's very very simply. Buy any Mazda boss kit (they're all interchangable), then buy your aftermarket wheel.

You'll need a 3.3ohm resistor (19p at Maplin) to disable the airbag warning light. There's a 3 pin connector behind the steering wheel, wiring wrapped in bright yellow insulation. One of those wires is green with a red stripe - that's your horn wire. The other two are the airbag, the resistor must go in between those. The horn wire you should make some sort of contact with the brass ring on the back of the boss kit, then plug your horn button into the connector on the boss kit, job done :)

Hardest part is removing the old wheel - 10mm bolts on the back of the wheel to release the airbag (disconnect battery first!), then a 21mm nut in the centre to release the wheel. Don't remove this nut fully - loosen it most of the way, then keep yanking on the wheel until it comes off. If you remove the nut fully, chances are you'll twat yourself in the face with the steering wheel when it comes off
