So first of all Hello to everybody :)
This is my first post, wohoo :P
So i've been thinking a lot about turbocharging my little z5 and stealthily looking around on this forum ;) :P
I'm from Malta so sorry for my mistakes in english haha.

Till now i've bought these items:

15 row oil cooler kit
Intercooler+piping kit
Exhaust temperature gauge+probe
4" 4 in 1 tachometer(oil press,water temp,voltage,tachometer.all are digital except for tachometer.)i already have mechanical autometer boost/vacuum,oil press and volts gauges. :P
Water temperature sender adaptor
Oil temperature gauge
Apexi turbo timer
38mm 8 psi external wastegate
6 psi wastegate spring
Adjustable bov
3 gauge dash pod
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
AEM UEGO wideband o2 gauge kit
Oil catch tank
Mechanical boost controller

And finally the ND64 Megasquirt PNP ECU.

Now i will hopefully start the project as soon as i get to Malta(in about a month)

Hope everything goes well :D

Oh and any help will be greatly appreciated as i'm a newbie at this :)
Thanks in advance.

Firstly welcome to the club!

Sounds like a great project, what turbo are you planning on running?
Depending on how much boost you run you may need larger injectors!

I'd aim for 150bhp on standard internals and gearbox!

Plus please don't forget to upgrade your brakes!

:D

Thanks for the welcome 323f rock :)

i currently have a (what i think is) a t3-t4 variable geometry turbo. Don't know exactly what it came off of.
im thinking of running 6 psi at first, try going up to 8 psi later on.

That is what my aim is 150bhp :)

Currently am trying to figure out the megasquirt wiring :)
Got the pinouts for the post ford ecu from Lerch, hoping that they are the right ones :)

Yeah that slipped through, ill look for better breaks.
What would you suggest as breaking??

:D

As a minimum, good replacement pads and discs, along with stainless hoses and good quality fluid

We fitted rear discs and Subaru legacy 2 pot front brakes!
The standard v6 brakes are quite good they would need your 4 stud hubs and discs, drilled to match

:D

if you have bought it off stratified it is normally set up to control everything and will come with a standard map so you can run it straight away

Yes it is from Stratified.
The problem is they do not have a pinout and base map for my z5,so i have to make them up. :s
I am going to try and use the base map off a protege 1.6 which i imagine is a bp.
i will tune it from there.

ahhhh i see. That is a problem. The only person I can think of that might be able to help is possibly Lerch as he is building one for his Z5

First off, great build! Good parts gathered already!

The Z5 isn't very different from the BP engine in terms of sensors and parts attached.

However the Z5 is known in the US and Canada, so I think the guys from Stratified can help you
to get the correct settings onto the MS. Also a suitable map...

I've bought my PnP MS2 there also, now I've got a JDM GTX engine so it's all different and for me it
is indeed plug n play.

But the Z5 is a nice engine I think, it's slightly underpowered but can rev to nice RPM figures, and with a
turbo you could have a very nice drivers car type car.

Good luck, allot of information is to be found here, and various projects have been done or are underway.

Ok mate thanks a lot for the help
Its nice to know that the z5 has some things the same as the bp.
You are right about the z5 its quite a nice engine considering its size :)
Nice to hear you have upgraded to the gtx engine, that was what i really want to do but in malta it would be too expensive for me.

I would have wished that the MS was plug and play for me too but it would be easy :P
My luck haha.
Well a little bit of competition makes it a better experience :P

I will update my progress as soon as i start it which will probably be beginning of april.

As before any input will be greatly appreciated :D
Thank you guys :)

Hi buds. So I got a kf-de engine now for my ba. Gonna swap it with the z5.

I need some help. I am trying to start the engine out of the car for a test run. Managed to find the injector plugs, dizzy plugs, iacv plug, maf plug, tps plug so basically all the sensors needed. I imagine.

The only thing I can't find is the plug that goes to the crankshaft position sensor oddly enough.

Is it part of the engine loom?? As I would imagine so. But I can't find the plug that goes to it strangely enough o.O
Any thoughts??

All help will be appreciated :D
