We have a clunk! not a big one, but a clunk all the same. :(

I think it may be a drop-link, or an anti-roll bar bush. We have a lot of speed bumps around Rochdale and they tend to play hell with suspension and bushes.

I used to remove my anti-roll bars on my 4x4s for this reason, they also tended to behave much better on the road, and handle much better too :D

Sadly Mitzy would have to be virtually taken apart to remove the bar, so I will just have to keep changing the drop-links etc. :(

Well it WAS just a drop link on the front passenger side. :D

£11 and that clunk has gone :D 8) .

Has anyone got any ideas on the "hollow rattle" at the back? :?

It sounds like..... the exhaust is banging on the exhaust tunnel in the floorpan.... but it isnt! :? the exhaust seems to be sound externally, all bushes seem to be in perfect condition, all exhaust hangers appear to be perfect :) .

I have emptied the boot, removed the sparewheel and removed the rear seats, carpets and anything that can be removed. I have tried with the tailgate open and with it closed.

The only thing I can think now, is maybe something is loose inside the exhaust. But the exhaust isnt loud and isnt blowing.

Fuel economy has deteriorated slightly, but we have put that down to the colder weather etc.

Any Ideas?? :?

Check your heat shields, they tend to rust  and come loose.

Already checked them, they are almost like new. To be fair I checked them first because they always rot faster than the rest of any car.
