Plastidip is so easy to use. I just hung the mirrors from the washing line and gave them 3/4 coats at 30 minute intervals. The only prep was to make sure the mirrors were dry, clean and free of wax then spray away. I didnt even mask up the glass as when dry you can just peel it off

Clarky has done his winter wheels in the stuff and its very durable and easy to use, even on wheels

Does it cover imperfections well? Like small chips, etc?

Depends how many coats you put on. My mirror backs had imperfections on them. They are still there but not as bad as before and that was only with a couple of coats

No paint will really "cover" imperfections, that's why the key is prep work you've done well on those Darren

I popped into the paint shop earlier to see how things were going.







I know there's overspray inside of the wheel arch but the cars never going to be perfect. Im just glad the arch is being repaired and going to look better on the outside

Sitting beside my car is an Aston Martin Lagonda thats in for a respray The chap who's bodyshop it is is very good at what he does. The quote I got for mine was very reasonable and I couldnt turn it down

i think nearly every car has its little quirks somewhere, but still it's a better feeling driving around knowing that the outside looks fine.

Don't worry about the overspray mate, a bit of satin black in there afterwards will sort that inner arch out

The car was jacked up slightly at the back so the inner arch could be seen much easier. I dont think it'll be seen when its back level. If it is, like you say Marc a bit of satin black will sort it out

The cars now home and in need of a good wash. Bit of overspray in the arch but I can soon sort that out. The chap even sanded back the rear quarter and the strip of bodywork up and over the windows down to the front wing and resprayed the lot. At some point in the cars life it had had a shoddy job done and where the wing came over the rear quarter window there was a poor paint line and what looked like lint or fluff under the clear coat. Im so glad that has now gone

The back bumper had a vertical scuff down it which has now gone.

The wheels and tyres are being changed soon. The alloys have seen better days hence the change. Now the rest of the work can begin

Looking at the arch, the rear panel looks a different colour to the rear door. It isnt, maybe as the camera flash was on it picked up different colours??

That's the right thing to do, paint the whole panel so as to avoid the blend - perfect mate

don't worry about the match, it'll never be spot on in photos, even a car fully painted can appear to mismatch on panels in some pics...quite annoying for sellers of new cars, they look like they've had repairs

The preford mirrors were black prior to this anyway Stu.

Im also not very competent with spraying and having seen how easy Plastidip is I thought Id use it instead.

Its in need of a good wash as its covered in dust from the bodyshop. What with that and the rain we had yesterday you can see the state of the car.

I'll be washing mine at the hotel in a few hours before Japfest!!
