Agree, and i think it reduces more than 5bhp Fuel consumption is about more 1,5/2litres per KM, but here in Portugal when the temperature reaches the 30º (like it was last week) it is real good running with AC on

is it the clutch type? Marco done one on his MX3 klze and wired it to his fog lights so the SC would only come on when the fogs were turned on, helped with MPG, but tbh fitting a SC isnt about the MPG is it haha!

it isnt mate unfortunately... the prospect of pressing a button for boost is sexy but no its just a normal one

you can have pretty much the same thing but using a bypass valve that is connected up to your throttle cable. That is how the TTE super charger does it

a button be better or aircraft switch just reminds me of mad max

the whole supercharger project has taken a back seat for the time being..... no funds and a broken engine dont help

well you knew that from the word go... So not broken just smokey.... And do a search for the guide that fastmike did about doing valve stem seals without removing the head... you can do it on a weekend

havn't you got a spare engine swap them over its not that hard.... have offered to help

nah dont swap yet... fix this one and then just keep turning the boost up till it goes bang so then you know what is a safe pressure for the other engine

its gonna take me a while to save up enough money to get the new ecu mapped and tuned anyway so its gonna be a while until its done

my original plan was to swap the engines as we beleive cleanies old engine is sound and not smoking..... and then rebuild my engine and get all that done ready for the supercharger fitting but with no money at the minute ill probly be waiting a while until its done

BUT it will be done and definately will not be giving up on the whole project!

on start up and everything else its fine mark, no smoke really.... its just on the overun when i go over 4k rpm and it smells bad lol ask hughie!

valve stem seals tend to be blue smoke on startup. but yes, it does smell

oil control rings? this is new to me? ill have a butchers around the guides forum and see if i can find anything

I was just thinking that - what is it like just coasting down hill, off the accelerator. Oil can be drawn in from the stem seals under pressure, but usually overrun smoke would point to oil control rings - top end rebuild, pistons out, hone the bores, new rings, might as well do bearings while you've got it apart...cheaper to find another engine

oil control rings AKA scrapper rings are the bottom ring on the pistons. So yeah engine out job.

yes it is cheaper but I had this same dilema last year when I did mine. If it was say my shitty toyota that needed an engine then it wouldn't have bothered me getting a second hand one but for my pride and joy that I am trying my best to get performance out of if I had bought another engine I still would of stripped it right down and had everything checked and new bearings and rings fitted. which is why I didnt see the point to buy a second engine and just over hauled mine. At least that way (especially seeing you have the charger fitted) you know everything is as it should be
