Hi
Can anyone give me advice on my radio in my 1999 Mazda, I only purchsed the car a few days ago and was aware that the radio had no sound (pity as it as nice cd changer) but lit up OK. So i have purchased a new radio, wired it all up, all working but once again no sound.
I have done the obvious and checked there are actually connected speakers behind the door panel, there are no joined or split wires, all plugs are in good condition.
The only thing i can think of is there may be an amp hidden away somewhere that has broken, or something else maybe.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I have had this problem before - it turned out to be the wiring harness but I suppose you will have replaced that with the new unit. And as you have said you have checked all wires which is what I would do next...
There shouldnt be an amp anywhere else, well maybe, but you would know if you had RCA cables plugged into the headunit.
Have you checked the wiring where the wiring harness plugs into? like all the wires in the dashboard?

Are all the wires still standard, and have you used an adaptor plug to fit your new stereo, or did you cut the wires and splice them together? When you say "new" stereo, is it a Mazda one or an aftermarket job?
Just need to clarify before trying to figure out your problem.

Its a LG, brand new (LAC 3600R), The wires in the car have not been spliced and the proper connectors have been used, currently Mazda factory to ISO, there are three banks of wires, (1) has all the electrics and 2 speakers, (2) has 2 speakers and (3) single earth.
I have also tried the old trick of a AA battery on each pair of speakers and no static sound at all.
I would prefer not to rewire, but unless you can shed some light on this i may have no another option.
Thanks for you help.

Are the speakers new or old oem ones?

To me they sound like they are blown, I had a front and a back blown in my BJ, there was no sound or anything from them

Sorry thats a LAC3700R, just took a speaker out to the car and all speaker wires are good, sound out of all 4, so the issue lyes somewhere between the factory plug and the speakers, hopefully there is another plug before all wires go to the 4 doors.
Thanks

They are standard mazda door speakers, is it possible that they can all go, i thought if that was the case at least one or two would make some sort of noise.
Just checked that there are speakers in the door LOL, yes there is

It was actually the connectors on the speakers themselves that were gone on 2 of mine, badly corroded so I would check for that :)

You are spot on, no marks, no corrosion, infact all 4 speakers look brand new, only problem not one of them produce any sound, tested all four door wires and are all fine, thanks again for your help.
