Harry, our eldest daughter, has just changed her old 106 for a black Toyota Yaris.
and decided to bring it down from Cambridge to show us.................................and maybe get a bit of a clean

Looked quite tidy, covered just over 40,000 miles, and in a lovely black colour too

I was only to happy to "help" clean it up a bit

The bodywork looked OK, just a little flat and with no depth, epecially on the mirror covers:



Gave it a good wash with NXT, dried with water magnet,
then into the garage under better lighting, showed up plenty of swirls etc:



Stuck with my usual order of products for the bodywork,
clay, paint cleaner, compound with the new DA, ultimate polish and finished with ultimate paste wax.

Then used plastrx on light covers etc, glass cleaned, tyres dressed with endurance gel.

Came up very well:

Harry was thrilled with the results, and helped out with the clay and paint cleaning stages,
took about 7 hours in all, with dashing between the car and our shop.

Howie, as usual, a cracking job mate, I am now getting a vision of you standing at your gate, hands full of car detailing gear, and you pouncing on the car as it drives thru the gate, and giving it a through going over before being allowed to procede.

Nice work - it of course needs lowered and front and rear strut braces ... all yaris's do!

In all seriousness, a rear upper tower brace (under 40quid delivered) will transform the cars handling and make it a lot safer on the twisties.

Keep a close eye on the front tyre pressures too - 1 or 2 psi makes the tyres get eaten pretty quickly on these... can you tell I used to have one?

Lovely mate, I do like the wee Toyotas. I've gotta say though, I've never actually seen a 5 door Yaris!
I know its only 6 years old, but did you spot any onset of rust whatsoever?

this is a run-around for Harry, she is not too worried about modding it,
and with a 1.0 litre engine it should slow her down a bit

No obvious signs of rust, a few dings but no problems.

I've always thought of these as "wee Toyota's" too, but when cleaning I was only just able to reach the centre of the roof (I'm 6"3 )
my daughter had no chance, without some steps

see ..it needs a set of tein lowering springs!

Wanted to do an update on Harry's Yaris,
when Harry came home last weekend she mentioned there were a few marks on her car, mainly from people bumping when parking etc

Not too bad on the rear of the car, but there had been quite an "impact" on the front bumper





As you can see there was quite a scuff and a hole in the bumper from the main impact.
When looking further the headlight clips were cracked, the wing and bumper were also damaged, as well as some of the metal behind the bumper

Harry was lucky the headlight unti was not cracked as well.

Gave the car a thorough wash with wash and wax, dried carefully, and concentrated on the scuff mark and front end of the car.

Started with clay, then moved onto paint cleaner, this had a truly amazing result, removing nearly all of the surface marking

Used the DA machine with Ultimate compound to bring up the finish again, then applied ultimate polish and wax by hand.

Finished with some plastrx to clean up the marks on the numberplate.





I then applied the same techniques to the bonnet and front wings to get from:

Really quite pleased with how much improved the front looks now,
Harry still needs to visit her local garage to get the bodywork and lights checked over etc.
