Does anyone have a guide and pictures of how to remove and fit a new fuel filter?

I have found my car to dip in power and feel the fuel filter needs changing. I don't know when it was done last and the cards done 100,000+ miles.

What fuel filter have you got and how did you fit it?

I think I know where the fuel filter is (black cylinder behind the battery, on the firewall?) but pictures would be great.

jup it's there, behind the battery.
disconnecting it is a b*tch, after 100k miles the hoses are solid on the pipes.

I had another look and saw another cylinder beside it, a smaller metal one thats just below the big black plastic one. The smaller one must be the feul filter. I have a 97 323F and I'm not sure how other model years compair. The big plastic one had a small pipe coming off it but it was cut, so I'm assuming that this is something else? Does anyone know what it is?

when are you experiencing this? idle? free revving? while driving?

I've sorted the idle after I fitted the new MAF meter

what do you mean by free revving?

free revving is hitting the throttle without being in gear

you know, what scooby's do in front of street lights

It does it when driving, idle and free revving are fine.

How would you know when the fuel filter needs changing? Since I got the new MAF the car is better but still have a small pulling effect; like the cars being held back, but it stops when giving more revs.

Can the engine get flooded with petrol?

no not really, amount of fuel is controlled by the computer and will regulate itself.

the 'holding back' effect could be caused by a clogged fuel filter holding back fuel.

Yes it is possible to flood the engine with petrol, I have done it twice, although once was because the battery died, and another was when the security system came on and cut out the engine just after starting.
