It's ony of those "if you dont know how to do it, you should let a garage do it" jobs

It's all outline in the Haynes manual though :)

Yeah I have done it with engine in the car pretty straight forward. Drain the cooling system and catch the water and dispose of carefully. Take off all the belts like power steering alternator and a/c. Remove the timing belt; mark the 3 pulleys for location, open the tensioner to take the slack off and slip the belt off. Next remove the belt backing covers bolted to the engine block and the pulleys for the timing belt. You may need to remove the crank pulley to get the lower cover off. Then remove the pipe connected to the water pump. Unbolt about 6-7 bolts holding the water pump on. Prise off the pump and clean the surface area until its clean and dry. Apply some RTF silicone sealant (flange sealant or gasket sealant or similar) to the rubber gasket on the water pump and torque the bolts to 22Nm. Connect everything back up, torque the main pulley to 150Nm, the tensioner bolt to 45Nm, the idler pulleys to 55Nm.

What makes you think the w/pump is going? If the pump is weeping water from the pulley, replace it. If the car overheats check the thermostat.

Replaced the pump successfully, not a bad job all round :)

Mike, the pump was intermittently weeping, and also overheating, which was reduced by revving the engine. This made me believe the pump was on it's way out/ struggling to spin at low rev's.

Weeping has stopped, and overheating has calmed down a fair bit, T=Stat is next
