Got some major parts for the car on Sunday, bought 4 x doors, carpet, sunvisors, wiper arms, parcel shelf and side lights from Paul / Cosmos. Havent had the chance to take pics yet, but will do so shortly and add them along with one or two other items I have been able to get.

So with the house move, I have not yet started work on the car, but have been collecting and buying the parts and bits that I want and need. Just need to finish sorting the garage out, and sort the MR2, then the ZXI will be in the garage and stripped for the serious work to begine.

Finally, the work has started, gave the car a serious wash before starting to strip for replacement. Removed the roof beading for washing and polishing later, then removed the front bumper and wings. Car is in amazing condition for a 15 year old car, very little rust, every nut and bolt comming off without hassle.

Bought a few items from Paul a while back, here is the pic of the doors, also got the rear parcel shelf, sun visors, side lights, windscreen wiper arms and carpet. will get pics of the other items up tomorrow.

Will be stripping the bump strips, and rebuilding the ZXI internal into these doors after sound proofing the doors.

Well some more work was done today, stripped the 4 old doors before removing them from the car, rewired the 2 new front doors with the ZXI wiring, will do back door tomorrow. then stripped out the interior, removed the old wrecked carpet and removed speaker, amplifier and power wires that are not going to be used. Will clean / wash the interior next before fitting sound proofing and then the carpet, and black leather seats. Will clean and polish the door sils and fit sound proofing to the doors before refitting them.

A few pics of todays progress.

Well a very productive day, firstly cleaned the door sills and interior, took 3 hours, then started with the sound proofing of the boot, that I cant believe has taken me 8 hours to do, but is done properly, used 4mm closed cell foam and spay-on adhesive. Just a few pics here, the rest will be in the Photobucket album,

link;http://s1036.photobucket.com/albums/a444/ShayneWarren/Madam%20-%20White%20ZXI%20project/

pics of the door sills, before and after.

Cant believe how long it took to do the sound proofing, but it really is such a filly job fitting on all those different curved sections. Have to cut each piece individually and then glue it in place. Of course my fingers were covered with glue afterwards as well, so had to clean hand for each piece worked on.

Debz, the cleaned door sills and interior really does make such a difference, have to say that is the first time I have ever cleaned any sills properly, but wont be the last.

Howie, thanks for the great comment.

Well, went to scrapies and got some clips for refitting later, didnt get to much else done on her today other than stripping the rear doors in preparation for sound proofing, some of which arrived today. will add pics when I have done the sound proofing. Going down to Matt tomorrow morning, so will probably only get back to doing this on Monday.

Can you believe that took me from 10am till 9pm with just an hours break to fetch Jayne from the station, that was to clean all four doors to the same standard. Now I know why my cars were never that clean in the past, just need to keep them clean now and it shouldnt take too long now that they are clean.

Not sure if you noticed that the black sticky gunge from the plastic draught sheets has all been cleaned off. Once the outer sound proofing is fitted, new draught sheets will be cut and fixed in place with double sided tape.

Got the sound proofing done today, again taken the whole day, roughly 12hours work. Done both inside the door frames with 4mm, and then the inner face with 2mm. Once the sound proofing was done I reassembled the innards of the doors and wiring ready for the windows to be fitted.

A few pics of the doors and of course all the pics in the photobucket album,

Link: http://s1036.photobucket.com/albums/a44 ... 20project/

And the doors sound proofed,

Will get the wife to take some pics of my arm to show you what they look like after fiddling inside the door frames, SHREDDED and bloody !!!

Debz, thanks for the comments, I hope it does look the part after all the effort and time I am putting in, I think the paint work is going to polish up nicely, but will need to do some touch up on stone chips and minor scratches. Just hope when the rust is cut out of the rear wings, the paint work blends in well. As for the arms, they are a sight for sore eyes.

Now that I have started on the work, I will be doing something every time I am off work, so althought there wont be daily updates, there will be 3 days a week when I will be busy on it, and then of course there are the 5 day weekends. Also have to say that the comments in this thread are greatly encouraging and motivating, so no lack of desire, just a matter of funds.
