Anybody know what could cause this, basically a few months ago when my car was insured my mate in his 1.25 fiesta tried to have a little play with me so I went along with it and for some reason I seemed to struggle to outperform him which I thought a 1.8 BA would dust a 1.25? I was 3 people up and he just had himself but I thought it should have done better than that lol? Never really gone above just cruising before that and its stuck in my head since...would a service help or could the timing be out or something?

If it could be the timing I'm wondering if this OTOS syndrome could be the problem?

Hmmm so your car weighs more to begin with, and then you're carrying probably about 130kg extra weight on average if there are 3 people in your car including you....

Lets do some math! :D

Fiesta 1.25 -> 73bhp, 1040kg -> 70.1 (power to weight ratio)
323F 1.8 -> 115bhp, 1430kg -> 80

Or if you had 3 OTHER people in your car, totalling 4 people:
323F 1.8 -> 115bhp, 1500kg -> 76.6

What subwhoofers and stuff did you have in your car? :lol: When you work it out, there isn't much in it ;)

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm using factory power figures, and factory weights (I'm sure the 1.8 BA weights about 1200kg empty), and a 99-02 reg Ford Fiesta :thumbleft: I haven't taken things like weight loss due to rust, fat people, weight of fuel or anything else into consideration ;)

Yeah there was 3 people in the car including me, and i also had a sub in the boot and a bit of shopping...which he didn't....and yep it was the 99-02 fiesta lol.....so are ya saying thats about right then...i thought my engine was seriously underperforming lol

ziggy....I never said where this took place...may have been on a private track ;) Everyone that says its silly, most people have booted there cars occasionally...I don't make a habit of it...hence I was shocked a 1.25 fiesta almost kept up lol
