I've just bought another 323 after being without one for a couple of years.

When its idling, if you switch anything electrical on the revs drop significantly then rise back up, when you switch the electrical thing off again, the revs will drop again and more often than not the engine will stall. Sometimes they do rise again and the engine stays running. It always starts again.

I have searched the forums and there seems to be a couple of options either the throttle body needs a good clean or I need to look at the charging circuit as maybe there is a problem with the alternator. What do people think? Where would be the best place to start looking when I fanally get my hands on it at the weekend!

I have literally only had it a couple of days so haven't had the chance to do anything with it, in fact the wife has driven it more than me so far doing the school runs!

Clean the tb and intake system and then reset your idle. If you search on here there are many topics on it.

When in neutral idle at 1200rpm and try the electrics.
if the problem stays, there is probably something bad with the wiring
if not, perform the sensor cleaning routine (MAF,TB,screw adjust,computer reset)

The problem is only there at idle, its fine if you fast idel at about 1200.

I've given the throttle body a clean this afternoon and generally had a good look around the car for the first time. The air filter is ing and the oil is in desperate need of a change!!

Cleaning the TB has helped a bit. Just about to look at the idle reset in a minute....

Its running much better now, although the idle speed is a bit fast now, just under 1000, I'll look at it again when I've changed the oils and filters next week.

Typically the central locking has stopped working now!!

Do the idle-adjust routine
in the diagnostics box near the battery, bridge TEN and GND and then adgust the T/B screw until comfortable RPM is achieved
