What would be the best product to use? I was intending on using the Hammerite Underbody Seal with added Waxoyl, however some people say underseal can trap water in and that just waxoyl is best?

Also is there a specifitc way to do it as i was just gonna put it in the workshop at work on the ramp....wipe the underside with a damp rag, dry it off then brush it on?

Alex, in what way does "wipe with a damp rag" mean preparation

you need to clean all the crap off, and any loose rust, I don't think that damp rag will quite be up to the job...

I guess it can trap water - but when you spray it on, it tends to force the water out from underneath it - you could always hit it with a space heater or something, get it nice and warm and dry first

don't then use a damp rag though, kinda makes that pointless

the car im lookin at is a fresh import so is like brand new underneath and hence i thought a wet cloth would get any surface dirt off? wat would you recommend instead? And then I was gonna dry/heat it after doing this?

Power steamer do the job? Then use a heater to dry it

Don't put an electric heater directly beneath a wet car...might aswell make toast in the bath, while using a hairdryer, and watching a dvd

I dont have one of them mate and would tht not take ages to dry out?...I was thinkin on a fresh import it would only need a quick wipe down with some degreaser...especially from looking inside the arches its like brand new lol.

Also which is best to use...waxoyl or underbody seal with waxoyl?

Okay so i've had a thought...would this be an okay idea?

I was thinkin firstly get the car in the workshop and in the air, wheels off....then as hughie said clean the underside with a steam cleaner or just thoroughly. Then dry the car off with a cloth and leave for a day....then if i put a space heater in to warm up the car and workshop as with it being winter its gonna have some moisture in the air(should this get rid of any moisture) then begine to underseal the car and leave there for an hour or two with the heater on then leave to dry for a day?

Finally does anyone know the bes product to use? Cheers


also would people recommend undersealing the visible arch lips(the bits you get rolled) or just the inside of the arches, and would this include the underside of these arch lips?
