The ECUs will definately be different

THe wiring between the ECU adn the engine maybe the same, but it is easy to swap

If it was me doing this i'd swap the engine, ECU, the wiring between both of them

And also check your Fusebox under the Engine bay as some of them may be rated diffrerently

swap can be done easily, you'll need the engine itself and the ecu with the engine wiring loom.

gearbox and all sorts can be kept the 1.6 stuff. mind you, to fit the gearbox on the 1.8 you'll need to swap your flywheel of the 1.6 as well.

not nessacary at all. only the engine loom, wich connects to the ECU and 2 other connectors underneath it. If you follow that loom and get it off the firewall you'll see that it is a peace of cake :)

I don't know which 1.6 version You have but I'm guesing that 1.6 16V from BG.
You need BP ECU, without this You don't have control over VICS (ther was no such thing in 1.6). Between 1.6 16V and 1.8 DOHC there is only one wire difference in the engine wiring loom (metioned before VICS).
Change injectors to the ones from 1.8 because now You can have very poor AFR and kill the motor.
Also what kind of TB You have 1.6 or 1.8?
