Hello to everyone :-) I own a 323f Executive 1997 P reg...she is my first Mazda, ive had her 4 years and replaced the clutch about a year after, now here is where i hope you can help me with some advice.

The gears were not shifting very good..then the following day would not budge at all...when the engine is off no problem...engine on...no chance of anything just a grinding screeching sound...

I phoned mazda..they said they cant believe its the clutch already as i hardly go anywhere city driving only..they said it could be the slave cylinder? so i will try to cut a very long story short..i checked the Vin plate and top right corner small letters BG3G and on the inside drivers door vehicle info..Model spec.BG2H-BAA...what clutch kit do i buy? BG or BA...women eh....lol

I have never seen a P Reg BG so I would lay all the pennies in my pocket that it is a BA clutch kit that you go for.

What size is your engine? If its not a 2 litre then dont get the ebay clutch. If your car doesn't have pop up headlights then you have a BA

to be honest, I found it was worthwhile going for all the bits from Mazda. When it comes to bits like these, I just like to get from dealer for some reason.

All in all, my whole clutch cost 280 to supply from Mazda and fit from my own mechanic. It's still going perfectly after 3years of use.

My engine size is a 1.8...mazda quoted me over £500 to do the clutch and another garage quoted me £350..ive now been told to buy the clutch myself and get a friends friend to do it and he is going to charge me £100 labour. ive lost faith in some of the garages as they all think your stupid cause your a woman! i just wont to buy the kit and get the best job done and not be ripped off.otherwise i will attempt to fit the clutch myself....lol:-)

hiya good to have another member.

Bit of a confusing threed so far this one? Which 323f do you have, ther were three basic models
the BG - pop up head lights
the BA
the BG

if you take a look at this site you can find a link to parts based on a picture of the models should help you identify which one you have

Could be the slave cylinder, but it could also be the master cylinder. It might not be either and may be something as simple as a leak in between the master and the slave cylinders. Either way, they are pretty simple to replace. I've sent you a pm love

Ok, is Matt not based in Cardiff, he maybe able to point you in the direction of a reputable mechanic. There are other members around that area also. Its just a case of WHO stands up and tries to help this damsel in distress.

Many Thanks

If you are looking for a good garage in Cardiff i would recommend this one, click here

They do excellent work, quickly and i have found them to be reasonable on price.

Give them a call and see what they say. As with any garage, get them to give you a quote first.

Its a family run business, the fathers name is george. ;)

Having come back from a bit of a break from the forum, I just thought I would slowly muscle my charm and wit back in.

Ben you are still Large, no matter what nick says.

Luna, Apologies, for some reason I thought Cardiff.

Yep I'm sure, we have the Gower beaches on our doorstep 8) and a short drive from Oakwood Theme Park and Pemrey Race track - awesome.

Deep fried pizza? :O Why didn't I think of that?!?

The best I came up with was a KFC-Pizza. I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow!

Welcome to the club :D

EDIT: And as Fluffy (steven) says, we're not nutters....despite the padded walls....

EDIT AGAIN: Fluffy is a nutter though, he's scottish and ginger
