whatt do most people get to a full tank with mixed driving,,, im only getin 230-250 miles :S

Mixed Driving i get about 350 miles definately...local driving

i have a 1998 1.5 engine, surely ishould be getting around 300miles to a tank :S

in my opinion in a 1.5 you should be getting 300 miles to a full tank of petrol quite easily

if not then there is something wrong?

May be needs a service...air filter,...oil filter,,,oil change,,,plugs etc

No idea on a full tank, but I get between 55 and 60 miles to £10 - roughly 27-30 mpg.

not very accurate doing it to a tenner with fuel prices changing soo much... and is that from when fuel ligh comes on to when it comes on again or what? lol

i'll do about 420 km's with 1.5 on LPG... with 38 literss

my old BA with petrol was about 550 km's on 50 liters or so..

I get about 450 miles......

From my 60 litre-ish fuel tank I get roughly 280 - 320 miles

I would like to have a meter on my car that shows an average consumption..

and now with this cold weather, the fuel consumption is getting more...But everyone knows, The Mazda's are not fuel economical...But I don't give a damn, I love my car, so why concerning about the fuel...

I made with 43l 320 km.But is very cold -25 C.Normally I;ll get 400km with 43l.(55 tank,other 12l is for reserve-red led)

i generally get anywhere between 250 - 300 to a tank depending on driving...

and also depends on a long run too..

i went to my home town of swindon last weekend .. filled her up and did 150 miles to just over a quater of a tank, this was at a steady 70 / 75 all the way. if i drove it at 70 from a full tank until it ran out... i reckon i could hit 400 miles pretty easy.

going to and from work , stopping for lights / round abouts etc for 60 miles a day i reckon i get an average of 270 miles, and costs £40 till fill her.

in all honesty ... not brilliant for a 1.5, and the mrs does like to moan about it ...

lol.. wait till one day i get that skyline i've always wanted... then you'll see what fuel consumption is

I've not had the Type R long enough to know about mixed driving but on motorway driving I got 320 miles from a tank which I was prety pleased with as my 1.5 wouldn't have faired much better!

Check your lambda sensor.

I have Z5 engine, 323F 1997 and it is just after rebuild. 3000 km of driving with new lambda sensor, new piston rings, head done, new gaskets etc.. I was driving to Croatia 2x 1200 km and consumption was 5.59 litres per 100 km. It was combined driving .. from 80 to 130 kmh.

Before engine rebuild the consumption was around 8-9 litres/100 km.

pretty sure mine is knackered, my consumption is higher than that

I was able to get from south shields to peacehaven on 54 litres a month ago which is 354miles which is 10.5km per litre (forgive me but i have always used km per litre in Zim) and I leaned my mixture off yesterday at JAE and on my way back did 210miles on 28 litres which means it did 11.8kms per litre which is amazing. had just dropped below half

I would have thought the 1.5 was more ecomonical than the 1.8 which I drive. Going to work and back, mixed driving I can comfortably get 300 miles to a tank (76 mile round trip 50/50 motorway / country). BUT on open road long haul, Wrexham to Weston Supermere and return, I got 420 miles and that was traveling at 70 plus mph much of the way.

well you are partly right I am from slightly further north, up in harare Zimbabwe but moved over here 3 years ago. Wolf is from SA though and there are a few others on here but cant remember who exactly.

I have 1.8 automatic and if i squeeze the car right down to reserve I get 190 miles. full tanks cost just about £55. Is that good or bad?

That's pretty bad

Full tank costs me about £55 and I can get 250 miles or so with average driving

EDIT: 1.8 Manual here. Not actually done a proper test from a full tank, but I get about 120 from half a tank

my 1.8 will do around about 350 milles on a long trip (about £50) and to and from work every day it will coast me about £25 to do 115 milles a week

So how do you make the car more economical? I have used redex quite a few times.

Yeah that sounds more like it - I drive 15 miles to work everyday, then 15 miles back, and I don't exactly crawl along, and go through about 30 squid every 3-4 days or thereabouts

With that low a fuel consumption, it sounds like you have a fuel problem - perhaps running rich? Or a leak maybe. Unless you drive everywhere with your right foot catching the cats eyes

I found I use less fuel when driving around between 2k and 4k rpm, than sticking to the same sorta speeds between 1k and 3k, so it could also be a gearbox issue on your auto.

As in, if I change gears at these speeds...
1st -> 0 - 10mph
2nd -> 10 - 20mph
3rd -> 20 - 35mph
4th -> 35 - 45mph
5th -> 45 - 70mph

I use more fuel than these:

1st -> 0 - 20mph
2nd -> 20 - 35mph
3rd -> 35 - 50mph
4th -> 50 - 65mph
5th -> 65 - 70mph

When accelerating obviously...if I want to keep doing 50mph, I'll shove it in 5th for example.

And I'm a big fan of engine braking

just remembered my Mot falied cos apperantly the downpipe was leaking so hopefully now that i have fixed it and passed the mechanic said i should have better economy but he dont know how much. hopefully should be a lot. gonna full tank it and see.
