Well its been a while but today i came home to find a letter on my floor....it says " Hello Ben we have ur clip" :D:D well it doesn’t say that but the BPT is here!!

It will be in the docks on monday, flying in on a boat called "The Shanghai Express"!! funny

But i got harsh transport problems, my old man was going to come down with a van and pick it up, but hes on his hols, not back until the 15th of Aug. So I got to get my car and the clip (200kg 1.15 cube) up to M boro. :S:S Or look in the south for a place that can do the change. mission. :D Im thinking of a van or trailer, but if anyone knows of any good garages in Southampton area let me know.

Ben :S:S

Its a Turbo version of the 1.8 (BP) engine some of us run. They come from the 323 BG GTX and GTR. This one is a GTX (185bhp) from Japan (JDM) Japanese Domestic Market. The advantages are that it has really low miles for a engine of this year (90's) this is due to the harsh MOT's that the cars in Japan have to pass every other year.

You can buy a "Clip" from a company and get it shipped from Japan or America to the UK. A clip is half the front end of a car, so includes all parts to make the engine run. I had my clip removed from the body of the car and placed in a small box. ( 1.15³) and weighs 200Kgs. It includes intercooler, plumbing, looms, ECU etc etc.

A disadvantage to the JDM engines is that they run on 100 RON. which means either getting a piggy back system for the ECU or running the engine on Optimax with power booster ever time I fill the car up. !! A problem Dragon Rob had with his import Type R.

Hey Ben, write us a guide of the conversation will ya?
A lot of pics and some info on the wiring part would be great =)

I have bought a JDM GTR frontcut, and want to do the conversion myself this winter. But I haven't found any good info about the wiring part yet :|

An ECU upgrade will get round the problem. :)

I wouldn't touch the stuff in a jap engine! Mine will run on normal unleaded but you can really notice the difference and god knows what long term problems could happen! But the BPT engine will be different so I guess it might be alright?!?

Nice to here it's made it Ben. :thumbright:

How much BHP are you expecting to run with the GTR engine and would it be worth considering a front LSD?

Also; what's the cost to date? (trying to figure out if it would be worth getting a 220BHP Vtec engine instead! ...tho those engines are hella expensive!)

I dont have the GTR?? GTX u mean? no idea really on final power output. Id like 250 in a year or so. gotta sort customs out and get the thing first tho! LOL

cost to date is £930. just for engine and shipping. just found out its going to cost bout £300-400 to get through customs and f*** TAX!

then fitting, tuning, getting it up north. insurance, i recon it will be between £2-2500 roughly. DOH!

dude, why the huge insurance premium, i checked with Adrian Flux, they wanted an extra £100 for the GTX upgrade, based on the 185hp figure, in fact, they wanted more money to fit nitrous to my 1.5!!!!!!

I agree, the 2-2500 includes the insurance.

Whats in my head so far.

930 for clip and post
300 for tax and customs
300 G series gear box and shafts and post
