The sipmle answer isno chap, sorry :?

I looked into this for my GT conversion because the fifth gear is much better than the BA one.

The problem is the rear mount on the GT box, on the BG, it mounts to the same spar as the front mount, whereas on the BA, the rear mount attaches to the crossmember.

It has been done once to my knowledge, in the US to a 1.5 323P, but it involved ALOT of cutting and welding of the crossmember to get it to fit :?

My next stop to get the fifth gear is to see if the internals from the GT boxwill fit the BA box :)

As for the driveshafts, they cannot be used, the track of the BA is 20mm wider each side than the BG :(

Try www.partfinder.co.uk, I think thats were I sourced my 1.5 box last year.

Couple of pointers though, buy the cheapest box you can get, paying top dollar is a total waste eith second hand boxes since you can't check them and the breakers don't :P

That said, MAKE SURE whoever you buy from has a returns policy, the first one I was sent was a duffer and you only find that out after all the hassle of fitting it :? In my case, I called them after fitting told them the problem and they sent another out the same day, good service :thumbright:

In your case, you may have to search for a while to get a G Series BA box, so keep an eye on cars breaking on ebay as well!!!

If you get calls back from breakers, get the VIN number or the Reg and ask me or someone else with an EPC to check that the breaker has what he says he has, this also saved me much hassle last year :D

Good luck in the hunt chap :)

If you are putting a G-series box in a 1.5 you'll also need the 1.8 mounts....from what i've been told ;).

You will have to rip out your 1.5 ECU and use the BPT one! This MUST be done by someone with auto electrical experience as its a BIG job. For a start, BG's have a different ignition system to BA's which means you'll have to wire coils up etc.

Try this link http://www.partfinder.com/

Ive got a G series box for sale from BG tho. Can you not get around the problem by using the BG crossmember to fit in the BA?? Reason Im sayin is that I think I remember someone posted on here that they had a BG G series box in a BA and swapped over driveshafts hubs etc but was experiencing extreme vibrations. He switched to BG crossmember and said that it fixed it.

That seems highly unlikely chap, since the cars have different track widths, therefore the BG shafts are too short to fit the BA. As far as swapping the crossmember, I must seriously advise against trying this nuless you can post some definitive evidenceas to it working safely! I have looked at the EPC pages relating to both models and there seems to be no parity betwwen the two, sorry :?

even if you do a rebuild from a f box to a g box it is still a lot of work.
You need new cv joints whereas the f box uses the same ones as the 1.5 version, and you need the driveshafts as well. Not to mention the different clutchpump (direct translation form dutch to english, dont know if it is accurate), the oilfeed to the clutch and the gearbox mount to the chassis. it can be done with the f mount, but you ll only secure 1 of the 3 bolts.
This is the way i am running now, as i haven't found my engine mount just yet. I know it is laying around here somewhere.
There is still considerable work to be done on either way of gearbox swapping.
