So you would need the engine, roughly how much is a GTX engine + ECU(with loom)?
G-series gearbox? + New clutch
Custom mounts?
Bigger brakes?
New drive shafts?
New exhaust system?
New fuel pump?

Could it be done under 3k? I know Matt is trying to on his conversion, but dropping a 1.8BPT into a 1.5 is a wee bit more work? Wouldn't want mad power from the bpt, i would be happy with the standard Hp(What do they come with?)....Do i save for it, or a new car?

Kash, waits for Andy to reply :D.

Yeah, grew again when i seen her :D...She was smiling at me while overtaking me(She did have 140bhp as standard & me about 90). Anways found this..

dude, why the huge insurance premium, i checked with Adrian Flux, they wanted an extra £100 for the GTX upgrade, based on the 185hp figure, in fact, they wanted more money to fit nitrous to my 1.5!!!!!!
I agree, the 2-2500 includes the insurance.

Whats in my head so far.

930 for clip and post
300 for tax and customs
300 G series gear box and shafts and post
4-500 for fitting
100 intercooler
100 pipework for intercooler
100-200 tuning
100-200 insurance

plus getting it up north but thats non engine related cost 200

but I will have parts to sell:

Air Con
BA radiator
4WD JDM gear box and drive shafts
323f BA F series Box and drive shafts
323f 1.8 engine - possibly strip for parts and sell
standard GTX intercooler
plumbing for standard turbo
lights from GTX
possibly the front strut brace if it doesnt fit my BA

So hopefully I can get some £££ back!!! EAAAAK!!!
:D

I didnt try to keep up, no point - Deep was telling me they have the same engine has my mums celica a 1.8 VVTI 140bhp engine...Which in my mums car is pokey...In a yaris its :|. She would have taken a V6 i think to, purely because they weigh nothing! I want a turbo! or a VTEC!

Wouldnt want to add more hp, insurance would be enough with a GTX.

I know Shaggy has taken these like they are nothing, but i love the sound & the way you can bounce of the rev limiter and they love it.

whats with everyone thinking small cars are light now,

compared to other new cars, yes, compared to 1980's, 1990's metal and pre 80's etc they weigh a ton!

small cars are like a 90's family hatch nowadays, a two seater lightweight mx5 sports car weighs more than a 90's 5 seater family hatchback, and sit higher to :evil4:

It did have a 3.0 V6 engine in it ;) ... and did the 1/4 mile in 13.8 ... some smaller cars don't weigh much at all lol

quite surprised with that! - there are a few pretty light cars about then still!

have to say though what im more surprised about is how something that light and 130bhp is still in the 9's to 60, whats up with that, thats slow for what it is, is the gearing made for economy or something? either that or whoever weighed it parked only half the car on! somethings wack with that like..... id be expecting high 7-8's with that p2w ratio

the hard part for this conversion if getting a G series gear box, top mount and drive shafts, you will need the hubs maybe, im not 100% sure if the 1.5 hubs are the same as the 1.8 hubs.... engine mounts need looking into..then if i was you id find a broken gtx and buy the engine for like 600-700. you will be well under 3K if you can install yourself or get on the cheap etc...

Cheers dude :). Would the EPC show if there is a difference in hubs? I also thought about a UK GTX purely because i remember reading your clip did cost a bit to import & it has to run on 100ron? I wouldn't install it, i would watch Deep tho :D lol. It wouldn't be done over a weekend tho, so would have to buy a 2nd car until it would be up and running like you did...Hmmm

Mounts are different, driveshafts are different, you'd need to look into getting discs all round so u could stop as well, not a cheap thing to do and very difficult, prob be cheaper to sell up, buy a 1.8 and then do the conversion!

indeed a difficult mission i will tell u that now. but all depends on what u want from your engine i.e the amount of power and how reliable too. your best bet is to buy the 1.8 and transfer whateva exterior mods u have carried out on the 1.5 onto the 1.8. even beta if u found a 94/95 spec 1.8 bcos that would solve the gearbox mounting issues out.
