Want to do this, preferably this weekend....bit of a problem though.

I rang the Mazda dealers in Stockport - they said they will only sell the full dizzy & that they dont sell them seperate.

then tried atufactors (cheadle-hulme) they said they dont stock them but suggested putting some ky or vaseline around it :cyclopsani:

Can anyone suggest where I can get one from? Is this something that Halfrauds usually stock or can order in?

cheers

Mate, I suggest you call them again, give them a good hard SLAP for being incompetant and get them to order this part (i'm assuming you have a 1.5) 99541-03801, price is about £1.50 +VAT :thumbright:

I have just sourced the "O" Ring for the V6 from a company that sells distributors, I bought 3 of them for the V6 :D .. ordered them yesterday and they arrived today :D ... grand total for the 3 including delivery ..... £3 plus Vat :D

You should kick the chap's a**e and ask for his manager, or someone else who knows what they're doing. The part is DEFINATELY on the Mazda parts catalogue ...

Ok, did mine this arvo, and here are the new pics, and a brief synopsis of what I did :D:D

1. The new 'O' ring

Image

2. My oil leak, been like that for like, 18 months

Image
Image

3. First I removed the intake pipe and the MAF, makes some room to work in :D

Image

4. Then the bottom of the box and the filter.

Image

5. Next, take all the spark leads off the plugs, undo the two screws holding the dizzy cap on and remove them all in one go, makes it easier to replace them later ;)

Image

6. Make a note (or take a pic) of which way the rotor arm is pointing and remove it, unpulug the two block connectors on the dizzy.

Image

7. Make a mark across the join where the dizzy meets the head so you can line it back up properly later, undo the two 12mm bolts holding the dizzy and wiggle the dizzy gently till it comes clear, set it aside for cleaning, remove the connector to the coolant temp sensor, it'll probably be covered in oil ;) notice how the coolant pipe has bulged next to the head, where the oil has got at it, even though its been covered by a protective plastic cover :?

Image
Image

8. This is the state of the cover

Image
Image

9. Get some rags and a little WD40 and clean all the old oil thats leaked over the engine, get as much as you can, takes a while, but its worth it ;) give the dizzy a good clean too, chances are the bottom will be caked in oil and crap, you may also find the gasket in the dizzy has perished, I'm going to have to replace mine, its fallen apart :(

Image

10. Take your clean dizzy and fit you're new 'O' ring, make sure you don't stab yourself with your stanley knife and bleed copiously everywhere, but do add a dab of clean oil to the seal ;)

Image

11. I trimmed back the remainder of my cover and refitted it to the top hose.

Image

12. Refit the dizzy, more gentle wiggling ;)

Image

13. Line up the marks you made earlier and replace and tighten the two 12mm bolts, refit the rotor arm (I cleaned and sanded all the contacts while it was apart) :D

Image

14. Reconnect all the leads you removed.

Image

15. Refit the dizzy cap and leads (cleaned)

Image

16. Replace the airbox, filter, MAF and intake pipe, make sure everythings done up tight, put your tools away, job done :thumbright:
