Hi Guys

I own a maxda 323 v6 zxi.

When I get to above 80mph on the motor way I get a dreadful wind noise from the front 2 doors. I think the problem is the glass in the door seams to be loose and could do with tightening, when you open the door u can move the glass about 25mm at the top and I am guessing it should have no play in it. It looks like the previous owner shut the door with the glass rather than the handle. :(

Has anybody got any clues on how to retify ? I have stipped down the door and tightened all possible nuts but its still the same.

When the door is open, the glass will spring in a bit - at least a centimetre. That's so there is spring force to create a seal when you close the door. Look down the side with the door shut: is the fram completely flush with the rear door and wing? Now look at the window seal: is there a seal all the way around?

The V6 can be noisy at speed, so it's difficult to be certain if yours is out of the ordinary. Try driving with the door slightly open (where the catch takes so it won't fly open!) and see how loud that is in comparison.

Failing the previous responce it could be caused by a poor seal, dependant on it's age.

It may be worth trying some nylon lubricant which you can get from motor spares places - designed for sorting out poor window seals.

Failing that, just stick to the speed limit!

I think they're something to do with those red and white signs at the side of the road - the ones with numbers in them.

You know the ones, for example a '30' sign means the minimum speed you are aloud to travel is 30 miles per hour - unless otherwise stated!

Should it have said '30' sign means the "Maximum" speed (in a Built up area with Streetlights)- unless otherwise stated?

If the wind noise is too bad you can either

1) Drop a cog and listen to the engine burble away

2) turn the stereo up!

But seriously all frameless windows on cars suffer a bit from wind noise.

Yup My V6 blows & whistles every now and then, think it is just a design problem, like Blue spud has said most of the frameless doored cars suffer from the same problem... you could always drive when its not windy, this cuts down the noise....

Is there anyway of tightening the windows ?

As the back ones are still firm and rigid, just the front 2 that are slack. there must be a replacement part that can sort the problem as I reckon it will be a commen fault in alot of 323`s

Try undoing the screws in the lock strike which is bolted to the B piller i.e the part that the catch in the lock closes into. When it's loose move it up a millimeter or two and retighten the screws. That should do it
