Yes as some of you know I have purchased a new car - its a 1.8 VVC MG ZR - 2002 reg (160BHP) -

I know most on here wont appreciate it but hopefully it will do the job for me - i.e. give me some fast fun in the twisties when needed, get me 38MPG plus on a daily basis - and I can get 2 bikes in the back.

Car has about 115k on the clock - so far I have change dthe exhaust - old one wa sfar too loud for an old git like me. I wont be modifying this but it does need a few bits doing so I can keep my hand in.

mate in work has one, not a bad car

Just watch the head gasket

Looks well cared for although I'm not keen on the rear lights

Paint looks nice and glossy.

Ive always liked the MG ZR's, especially the 3 doors
I think the ZR straights that your's has on are the nicest alloys MG did

Just a shame the whole head gasket thing lets them down, they've been known to go through a HG every 40k, especially the 1.4's and 1.8's.

Keep a close eye on the cooling system, as its a poor design that is a low capacity and its when it runs low it blows the HG

Nevertheless faults aside they are a fun chuckable car

i had a mg zs 180 (v6) a few years ago, and it was a very well built car.

Looks nice.....Headgasket failures although common can be sorted very easy, make sure you get the upgraded kit from Landrover though, they seemed to have a much better design and used a different material

As Daz said I'm not that keen on the rear lights but meh....good buy

Cheers guys .. its seems to be ok so far, it had an Xpower exhaust on and I think they are Xpower rear lights .. neither to my taste and the exhaust has gone already and will be ebayed soon - lights will probably go too depending if I can buy a standard set cheap.

Bodywork looks good in pictures but Ihave cleaned, polished ect and therefore looks better than it is - but after a few more washes and the full treatment it will be looking tidy.

Not really too fussed about the possible HG failure as its only a 3-4 hour job if it needs changing anyway.

Only other main problem is the gear lever movement - but a new set of bushes should sort that - needs a tidy up inside and some new mats and shoudl be a good little runner - bloody nippy round the country lanes , not that I have played much.

Great prices for parts on these though - back box cost me £42 brand new and hopefully should get £100 plus for the one the one I took off .... happy days
